USA Men’s Eagles 7s name final squad for HSBC SVNS 2 in Nairobi
  • The USA 7s have named their final squad for the HSBC SVNS 2 in Nairobi, Kenya.
  • The 12-man lineup is locked in for the competition running from Saturday, February 14 to Sunday, February 15.
  • Stephen Tomasin will captain the side, opening against Belgium before facing Uruguay, Canada, and Germany, and wrapping up with a final showdown against hosts Kenya.

The USA men’s 7s team, the Eagles, have confirmed a 12-man final squad for the HSBC SVNS 2 opener in Nairobi, Kenya set to run from 14-15 February 2026.

USA are among six men’s teams that Kenya will host for the new World Rugby Sevens Series format at Nyayo National Stadium, with six women’s sides also taking part.

The 12-man squad features a blend of familiar faces, fresh from the team’s recent trip to Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s tournament where they tested themselves against elite international opposition while experimenting with set-piece structures and sharpening on-field chemistry.

Speaking after announcing the squad, Eagles men’s head coach Zack Test revealed that the team is fully committed to all three legs of HSBC SVNS 2 this season, with promotion back to HSBC SVNS 1 being their target.

Our objective this season is to perform in a way that earns us the right to return to SVNS 1. That means living our standards every day: discipline, work ethic, and consistency and turning our process into performance.

When we get our details right, we’re lethal on both sides of the ball. Our focus isn’t chasing outcomes; it’s building repeatable performances that show up moment to moment and game to game. If we do that in Kenya, the results will take care of themselves,” Test stated.

Captain Stephen Tomasin will lead the side into their opening match against Belgium, followed by clashes with Uruguay, Canada, and Germany before their final showdown against hosts Kenya.

Shujaa and the USA are no strangers on the HSBC circuit, and Kevin Wambua’s charges will be eager to avenge their most recent meeting, where the Eagles mounted a comeback to snatch a narrow 17–12 victory at the 2025 Los Angeles 7s.

Tries from Kevin Wekesa and Patrick Odongo had handed Kenya a first-half advantage. However, Porter Goodrum – who misses out this time, crossed for a brace, while Jake Broselle sealed the comeback with the decisive try that saw Kenya concede defeat.

With both teams having faced off periodically over the years, each will be aiming to start this campaign on a high note as they push for a return to HSBC SVNS 1.

After Nairobi, the competition will move to Montevideo, Uruguay, before concluding in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

At the end of the three legs, the top four teams will join the top 8 teams for three legs in the World Championships Series. The top 8 out of 12 will book their places in SVNS Division 1 for 2027.
