Nairobi United

Nairobi United will be looking to maintain their momentum when they face Kakamega Homeboyz in a rescheduled SportPesa League clash set for 4PM at Kasarani Stadium.

The match presents another crucial test for both sides, with Nairobi United aiming to complete a double over their opponents while Homeboyz target revenge after losing in their previous meeting.

Nairobi head into the match encouraged by their recent 3-0 win over Shabana FC at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday with goals from Duncan Omala, Michael Karamor and Mustapha Kizza helping the team bounce back after a difficult run of results.

In their last five league matches, Nairobi United have managed one win, two draws and two losses, a run that has seen them remain seventh on the table with 38 points from 26 matches.

They have registered 10 wins, eight draws and eight losses so far this season and will be keen to build consistency as the campaign enters a decisive stage.

Assistant coach Sadique Ambani was pleased with how the team executed their plan against Shabana and believes the players are ready to approach the Kakamega Homeboyz match with the same focus despite the short turnaround.

“It was all about preparation. The way we started our warm-up, the way we prepared for the match and the way the boys started the game was very interesting and amazing. It is just 72 hours after an intense match against Shabana but the boys are ready and we are very focused,” said Ambani.

Homeboyz also come into the match with confidence after a convincing 3-0 win over Mathare United at home. Oliver Machaka, Samwel Odaro and Henry Omolo scored in that encounter, helping Abana Beingo strengthen their position in the top three.

In their last five league matches, Kakamega Homeboyz have picked three wins, one draw and one loss, showing steady form as they continue their push near the summit of the table.

They currently sit third with 45 points, having won 12 matches, drawn nine and lost five.

Striker Omolo will be one of the key players to watch after ending his three-match goal drought in the win over Mathare United. Head coach Patrick Odhiambo admitted the striker had been under pressure but believes the goal lifted his confidence.

“It is good that he scored, he was really frustrated last week having not scored. He had gone three games without scoring so it’s good that he scored as it now lets him be free,” said Odhiambo.
