AFC Leopards reclaimed top spot in the SportPesa League after a convincing 4-0 demolition of Tusker FC on Sunday at the Nyayo Stadium.
Ugandan forward Samuel Ssenyonjo was the star of the show, scoring a hat trick and providing an assist as Leopards sealed their biggest win of the 2025/26 season. The win saw them return to the top spot with 30 points from 16 matches.
Ronald Sichenje scored the other goal to confirm the three points for Ingwe. This was Tusker’s second defeat in their last three matches, leaving them in fifth place with 24 points.
Second place Gor Mahia failed to hold on to the top spot after they were held to a barren draw by Shabana FC at the Gusii Stadium earlier on Sunday.
The record Kenyan league winners were the better team on the day, though a resolute Shabana defense managed to keep them out. The draw means Gor have 27 points but have played three games less than their eternal rivals Leopards.

Osborne Monday is currently on the longest unbeaten run in the SportPesa League after his Murang’a Seal made it three wins on the bounce with a 2-0 victory over Mathare United on Saturday. Victor Haki and Jackson Imbiakha were both on target for the resurgent Seal.
Their impressive run of form has seen them go 10 games without defeat, with head coach Monday pleased with his sides performances.
“The boys are playing well and it’s because we have a sense of belief here, knowing what each and everyone is capable of.
“We are not getting ahead of ourselves and we are focusing on each games as it comes. We know where we need to improve and there is no doubt that we have what it takes to compete,” the former Kenya international stated after the match.
Murang’a are now in ninth place with 21 points, just nine points adrift of the league leaders. The defeat was a second straight one for Mathare who slipped into 13th place, three points adrift of their opponents.
Elsewhere, Bernard Mwalala’s second stint in charge of coastal side Bandari FC got off to a winning start. Two dramatic extra-time goals came to Bandari’s rescue as they fought back to beat Kakamega Homeboyz 2-1, stretching their unbeaten run to four games.
Despite the defeat, Homeboyz remain in third place with 24 points, level with both Shabana and Tusker. The dockers on the other hand rose to 10th place, just four points behind their opponents.
At Kasarani, Kariobangi Sharks failed to rise above the bottom spot in the league after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Posta Rangers. The stalemate means eighth-place Posta have now gone four games without a win.
Sharks remain at the foot of the table with 13 points from their opening 16 games. With only two wins to their name this season, William Muluya’s charges are now in a dreadful position as they continue to struggle to find a way to avoid relegation.
Champions Kenya Police and KCB played out to a goalless draw on Friday in the first game of the weekend. Ettiene Ndayiragije’s side has now gone four games without victory, making their title defense a rather uphill task.
Betting lessons:
- Goal markets – Under 2.5 goals continues to be the most noticeable trend after the SportPesa League weekend. Only one of the nine games played had more than two goals in it, making this goal markets the most consistent this far into the season.
- Home advantage – With only two teams winning on the road this match-day, the trend of the home team having the advantage persists. Majority of the matches resulted in draws, though the home team to avoid defeat continues to be a reliable market in the league.
