Stephen Ocholla’s reign as Ulinzi Stars head coach in the 25/26 SportPesa League campaign started with a blow as the Soldiers succumbed to a 1-2 defeat at home to Bidco United.
In the match hosted at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, two quick goals from Collins Akite and Victor Kunyili gave Bidco a two-goal lead just before the sixtieth minute.
The Soldiers’ vice-captain, Boniface Muchiri, halved the deficit from the spot with fifteen minutes to play, but it wasn’t good enough to secure a point for the hosts.
The win, Bidco’s third of the season, elevates them to second on the table, while Ulinzi Stars, who fired Danstun Nyaudo after the opening five games in the 25/26 campaign, are on the other end of the table after suffering their third consecutive defeat.

They are winless since securing a 0-1 away win against Murang’a Seal in their first match this season.
Elsewhere, Kakamega Homeboyz continued their fine run of form with a third consecutive win.
Homeboyz’ 2-1 victory over APS was delivered with goals from Boniface Onyango and John Omondi, with James Khaleha netting Bomet’s consolation.
The result leaves the Black Berets at rock bottom of the SportPesa League table after five matches, with four defeats and only three points collected.

In Murang’a, Tusker FC continued their resurgence after a shaky start to the season with a second consecutive win.
Goals from Dennis Oguta and Erick Kapaito ensured the Brewers extended their unbeaten run to four matches.
Andreas Odhiambo pulled one back for the Sharkmen but it wasn’t enough to change the score, with the match ending in a 2-1 victory for Tusker.
AFC Leopards rounded up Wednesday’s action with their first league victory over Shabana FC since the club’s promotion back to the top tier in 2023.
Victor Omune and an own goal late into the match canceled Austin Odongo’s early opener for a 2-1 full-time scoreline at Gusii Stadium.
