According to the club, the initiative is part of the club’s 2025–28 Strategic Plan, which includes aligning operations with environmental and health regulations.
The plan commits the club to launching two green initiatives by the end of this year.
The exercise also doubles as a tribute to Raila Odinga, who passed away on October 15 and was laid to rest on October 19. Odinga a big football fan ,was a passionate advocate for environmental conservation and often spoke about the need to protect Kenya’s forests, rivers, and water catchment areas.

“As MOFA FC, we are keen to align our operations with environmentally conscious practices because we understand that we must preserve our environment not just for ourselves but for future generations.
We sincerely thank NCBA Bank – Homa Bay for partnering with us on this initiative, helping us achieve our strategic goal of aligning our operations with environmental and health regulations.
We look forward to expanding this partnership into other areas of mutual interest,” Osano said.
NCBA Bank Homa Bay Branch Manager Lillian Kiche reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to sustainability under the institution’s Change the Story agenda.
“NCBA Group is working towards an exciting goal of growing 10 million trees by 2030,” she said. “We believe this can only be achieved through partnerships and shared commitment to biodiversity restoration.
Under our 100,000 Trees for 100 Branches campaign, we are excited to partner with MOFA FC for this tree-planting activity in Othoro. Each of our branches aims to plant at least 1,000 trees in collaboration with schools, religious institutions, and local communities.”
