Safari 7s 2025 Quarterfinals Recap

Christan Ojwang was the first to put points on the board for Kenya Shujaa, breaking Nyati’s early dominance three minutes into the opener. The team took a 7-0 lead after Nigel Amaitsa successfully converted.
Dennis Abukuse extended Kevin Wambua’s squad’s lead shortly after, finishing a clever offload from George Ooro by outpacing the Nyati defender to make it 14-0 after another successful conversion.
Abukuse picked up right where he left off after the break, scoring his second try just a minute into the second half to stretch the lead to 21-0.
Speedster Floyd Wabwire then joined the scoresheet, adding another five points to push the score to 26-0 after a missed conversion. Coming off the bench, speedsters Patrick Odongo and Festus Shiasi capped off the match with two more tries, sealing a comfortable 40-0 victory for the Shujaa.
In the other quarterfinal pitting the Morans against the UK Select side, David Nygge opened the scoring for the Kenyan side after four minutes of intense pressure, taking a 7-0 lead after a successful conversion.
Minutes later, Rayvon Ambale extended the Morans’ advantage to 14-0 with a well-constructed play from the left wing, which he also converted.
The UK Select side mounted a comeback after halftime, scoring two quick tries to level the score at 14-14, capitalizing on defensive lapses from Louis Kisia’s charges.

The momentum shifted when the UK Select was reduced to five players on the pitch, allowing the Morans to exploit the numerical advantage. Victor ‘Mola’ Odhiambo broke through to surge ahead.
The UK Select fought to the final whistle, scoring a last-gasp try in the far-right corner, but the conversion fell short, allowing the Kenya Morans to punch their ticket to the main cup semifinal.
In the day’s other action, the KCB squad let a 10-0 lead slip as Zimbabwe staged a second-half comeback to claim a 19-10 win and advance. Shogun, meanwhile, had a straightforward run against the French Renegades, cruising to a 31-5 victory.
