The SportPesa League 2025/26 season delivered a thrilling matchweek four with exciting action unfolding across various venues in the country.
The weekend’s fixtures saw all 18 top-tier teams in action, beginning with a Friday double-header at Dandora Stadium.
There, AFC Leopards were held to a draw by Posta Rangers, while Kakamega Homeboyz secured victory over Sofapaka.

On Saturday, fans were treated to a single standalone fixture where Murang’a SEAL travelled to Mombasa and were soundly defeated by Bandari FC.
Sunday was packed with five captivating matches at different grounds. Defending champions Kenya Police picked up their first win of the season, a feat matched by Bandari, Kariobangi Sharks and Mara Sugar.
Record champions Gor Mahia headlined the day against KCB, while the clash involving Tusker and Shabana also became a major talking point for this fourth round.

AFC Leopards’ struggles persist

The 12-time champions, hoping to mount a title challenge for the first time in over two decades, have started the season on the wrong foot, failing to win either of their opening two matches.
Before being held to a 2-2 draw by Posta Rangers, they began their campaign with a 1-1 stalemate against Sofapaka.
The match against the “Mailmen” mirrored their opener against Sofapaka who came from behind to equalize.

Ingwe took the lead twice at Dandora Stadium, first through Kelly Madada in the 20th minute, and later through new Ugandan signing Samuel Ssenyonjo.
However, a late defensive lapse from a corner allowed Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo’s side to equalize, through Eliud Lokuwam, denying Fred Ambani’s team their first victory.
Under the new leadership of their chairman Boniface Ambani, AFC Leopards appear disjointed at the back and inefficient in front of goal.
As the league pauses for the FIFA international break, the team urgently needs to address their defensive vulnerabilities and finishing woes.
Tusker still winless but halt Shabana’s charge

Tusker remain winless in their fourth match of the season.
Hosting Shabana at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, it appeared they were headed for their third defeat, until super-sub Ian Simiyu canceled out Austine Odongo’s first-half strike to secure a draw.

Despite the Brewers dominating the second half, they could not breach the Glamour Boys’ resolute defence. The single point does little to lift them from the bottom of the table, where they currently sit 16th with just two points.
Coach Charles Okere remains hopeful, stating that securing back-to-back draws is a positive outcome for the project he is building with the team.
Resurgent Gor Mahia look unstoppable, despite Austin’s spot-kick misses
The 21-time champions appear formidable this season. After winning their second fixture 2-0 against Sofapaka, they picked up where they left off by edging out KCB 1-0 at Dandora on Sunday.
Felix Oluoch Mboya scored the solo goal, his first since donning the K’Ogalo jersey.
Despite Austin Odhiambo missing a second consecutive penalty, Gor controlled the game’s tempo, with their midfield dictating play.

The dynamic link-up between Enock Morrison, Sherrif Musa, Austine Odhiambo, Fidel Origa and Ebenezer Adukwaw overwhelmed the Bankers, forcing coach Robert Matano into tactical changes to ease the pressure.
Gor’s defence, marshalled by Mike Kibwage and Sylvester Owino, also looked assured.
During the break, those not called up for international duty will focus on sharpening their finishing to convert the numerous chances they create.
APS Bomet endure humbling welcome to the top flight
It has been a difficult introduction to the SportPesa League for newcomers APS Bomet who are yet to register a win or even a single point.
On Sunday, they hosted their fellow National Police Service team, Kenya Police FC, at their new home ground at Kericho Green Stadium.
They handed the defending champions their first win of the season while suffering their third consecutive defeat.

APS Bomet earned promotion by finishing second in the National Super League last season.
However, their top-flight campaign began with a 4-2 defeat to Shabana, followed by a 2-0 loss to Murang’a SEAL at the same Gusii Stadium, and now this narrow 1-0 defeat.
With two weeks before the league resumes, they must find a solution to regain their rhythm before it’s too late to do so.

SportPesa League 25/26 Standings Summary- Shabana lead the pack
After four rounds, Shabana leads the table with seven points from three matches, followed closely by Posta Rangers, also on seven points.
Gor Mahia sits third with six points from three games, while KCB is fourth with six points from four matches.
A victory for either Nairobi United or Bidco United in their Monday clash could see them leapfrog KCB or Gor if their goal difference will be superior.
At the other end of the table, Tusker, Sofapaka, and APS Bomet occupy the 16th, 17th, and 18th positions, respectively.
