Enock Morrison fires back at Richard Omondi

Gor Mahia midfielder Enock Morrison has responded strongly to comments made by KCB midfielder Richard Omondi following their hard-fought 0-1 win over KCB at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.

The victory marked Gor Mahia’s second consecutive win of the season, pushing them to within just a point of joint league leaders Shabana and Posta Rangers who have collected 7 points from three games.

Speaking after the match, the Ghanaian international, who played the full 90 minutes for the third SportPesa League game in a row, did not hold back against Omondi’s statement.

Gor’s Enock Morrison fires back

“When you cannot fix your home and you talk about someone’s home, sometimes it is very bad,” Morrison said.

“Some people were saying Gor Mahia is just an ordinary team even before facing us. We do not talk before the game, we talk after the game. They should keep quiet and work as we are working,” he fired.

When asked whether Omondi’s comments served as motivation for him and his teammates, Morrison insisted that was not the case.

“It is not something that motivated us. We just saw the video and laughed because we know the kind of quality we have in our house and they do not have it,” he added.

Gor Mahia came into the match on the back of a 2-0 win against Sofapaka at the same venue, a game in which Morrison’s compatriot Ebenezer Adukwaw scored a brace.

Against KCB, Adukwaw once again made the difference, providing the assist to new signing Felix Oluoch who slotted home in the 61st minute to seal all three points against a resilient Robert Matano-led side.

Earlier, KCB midfielder Richard Omondi had dismissed Gor Mahia’s stature ahead of the match, saying:

“K’Ogalo is just a name. We will face them and football will decide. The final whistle will be the decider. We will tackle them just like any other normal side.

They are a good team, but we will approach the game the same way we did our previous opponents,” the new signing said.

With back-to-back wins after losing their season opener by a solitary goal to Bidco United at Kasarani Stadium, Gor Mahia appear to be finding their rhythm under Ghanaian head coach Charles Akonnor.

Morrison and his teammates will be aiming to continue their fine form after the international break when they face newcomers APS Bomet who are still searching for their first win of the season.
