Tusker FC coach Okere upbeat on overcoming Shabana to seal first season victory
  • Tusker FC coach Charles Okere remains confident that his side will return to winning ways as they prepare to face Shabana FC in Matchweek 4 of the 25/26 SportPesa League.
  • The match is scheduled for Sunday, October 5, at the Kasarani Stadium, kicking off at 4:00 PM EAT.
  • Tusker are winless in three (2L, 1D), while Shabana aim to make it three wins in a row.

Tusker FC coach Charles Okere is backing his team to bounce back and upset the in-form Shabana FC side when they host them on Sunday, October 5, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, from 4:00 PM EAT.

The encounter will be the fourth match for Tusker in the 2025/26 Sportpesa League, a campaign they have unfortunately started on the wrong foot, as they are yet to register a single win.

They began the season with back-to-back losses; 2-0 against KCB and 2-1 to Posta Rangers, before being held to a goalless draw by Mathare United.

Tusker FC coach Okere confirms readiness for Shabana clash

Speaking on Friday during a training session, Okere stated that the team has been preparing well and that the squad is in a positive frame of mind to face a Shabana side that remains unbeaten.

“The mood at the camp has been positive. I want to thank the boys for the point they earned in our previous match. Tomorrow, we are up for the task against a team that has had a good run in their two opening matches, but confidently, we are building something positive here at Tusker FC.”

Okere further elaborated that while Shabana are a strong side, their past results will not determine the upcoming outcome, emphasizing that his team is fully prepared.

“Shabana is a good side; they have a quality team. But again, this is football, and past results cannot predict what happens next. I believe we have prepared well for this season, and the boys are positive.”

This will be Shabana’s third match of the season, and they come into the fixture sitting in second place on the log with six points, earned from a 4-2 win against APS Bomet and a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bandari FC.

“We respect them as opponents, but tomorrow I believe we are going to get the maximum points. We have done our homework on them and have worked on rectifying the weaknesses from our first few matches. It is going to be a tactical and intriguing contest.”
