Arsenal will be chasing three points this Saturday evening at the Emirates Stadium when they host West Ham United, with their sights set on climbing to the summit of the table before the October international break.

They currently sit third with 13 points, one behind Bournemouth, who have played an extra game, and just two points adrift of Liverpool.

With the Reds visiting Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the Gunners simply need a victory, hoping Chelsea can upset the defending champions.

Mikel Arteta’s squad enters this fixture brimming with confidence after an impressive undefeated run in September. Across a demanding schedule of six matches in all competitions, they secured five victories and were held to a single draw.

After suffering a late 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in August, they bounced back with a 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest, fought to a 1-1 draw with Manchester City, and then muscled past Newcastle with a 1-2 result in their most recent league outing.

This past Wednesday, the Gunners played their second UEFA Champions’ League group-phase match, hosting Olympiacos and securing a 2-0 victory.

A first-half strike from Gabriel Martinelli and a 90th-minute goal from Bukayo Saka maintained their perfect start in the competition.

Meanwhile, the Hammers are still seeking to find their footing after sacking Graham Potter last week.

They have appointed his replacement, Nuno Espirito Santo, who began his tenure with a 1-1 away draw against Everton- a fixture that saw Jarrod Bowen cancel out Michael Keane’s opener.

West Ham have registered just one victory in their six matches, a 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest and losing four others.

The solitary point from the Everton clash was not enough to lift them from the bottom of the table, where they remain with only four points.

Consequently, Nuno will bring a squad desperate for nothing less than a win in this encounter.

Gabriel was substituted in the 75th minute against Olympiacos on Wednesday. While Arteta confirmed there is no long-term damage, it remains uncertain whether he will feature in our backline.

Piero Hincapie is still struggling with a groin issue but could return after the international break, while Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus all remain out with knee injuries.

On the other hand, Tomas Soucek is suspended for this game following his red card against Tottenham a couple of weeks ago, and young midfielder George Earthy has picked up a hamstring injury that will see him sidelined for at least a month.

Arsenal vs West Ham Head-to-Head Record, Current Form

Arsenal have won six of their last eight Premier League matches and have amassed more points (19) than any other side since the start of this run in May.

West Ham have lost just one of their last five Premier League away games, with all of their last 10 points in the competition coming on their travels.

However, Arsenal have lost three of their last five games against the Hammers in all competitions (W2), as many defeats as in their previous 33.

West Ham are looking to become only the second side to win three successive Premier League away games against us, after Manchester City.

Arsenal vs West Ham Prediction

Arsenal will be looking to carry their September momentum into October and will enter this match as the superior side.

Ascending to the top of the table is a clear incentive, and they will be determined to get there before the international break.

However, they must not underestimate the Hammers, who are desperately seeking to bounce back from an unwanted winless run and claw their way out of the relegation zone.

We expect a very tactical affair. While Arsenal’s strikers are still hungry for goals and will be pushing for them, West Ham might sit deep and attempt to hit on the counter-attack.

We anticipate a match with several goals, but only if each side takes their chances clinically.
