The TCS Sydney Marathon 2025, one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors races, is around the corner. On Sunday, August 31, amazing runners such as Kenya’s legend Eliud Kipchoge and Dutch sensation Sifan Hassan will battle it out for the coveted title. For Kipchoge, this will be his first ever marathon race in Australian soil.
As he finalizes his preparations, Kipchoge has revealed how he will approach the TCS Sydney Marathon.

Kipchoge to push hard at TCS Sydney Marathon 2025
According to the former BMW Berlin Marathon winner, he plans to fight for the title with his competitors to the end.
“One week to go. I close my mind, try to think how I will be actually crossing the last kilometer of the long run, which I believe I will be pushing even if it is so hard.
Let us all come together, cheer up, run, you know enjoy the spirit of running, sell running. Make Australia a running nation. That’s my goal,” divulged Kipchoge.

The 40-year-old is one of the favorites to win the men’s elite title at the competitive road race.
He travels to Sydney with a full marathon personal best of 2:01.09 that he set at the Berlin Marathon in 2023 where he set the previous world record.
The experience that he has accrued over the years puts Kipchoge at a better position of winning the TCS Sydney Marathon 2025.

Who will Kipchoge compete against at the 2025 TCS Sydney Marathon?
In Sydney, the Kaptagat based runner will face competition from other brilliant runners such as his compatriots Bernard Koech and Vincent Ngetich. Ngetich’s involvement is not clear yet since he has was recently included in Kenya’s team for the Tokyo World Athletics Championships 2025.
Dawit Wolde and Birhanu Legese, who were both born and raised in Ethiopia, are also set to feature in Sydney.
Besides the men’s elite race, the organizers of the TCS Sydney Marathon 2025 have also put together a solid field in the women’s category.

Hassan headlines Sydney Marathon 2025 women’s elite field
Hassan, the reigning Olympic Games champion, headlines the entries that also has the likes of the Ethiopian runners Workenesh Edesa, Meseret Belete and Buze Diriba.
Kenyans Gladys Chesir, Evaline Chirchir and former Chicago Marathon champion Brigid Kosgei have also been confirmed for the race.

On the other hand, some of the big names that will compete in the Elite Wheelchair categories are Susannah Scaroni and Daniel Romanchuk. Should Kipchoge win the TCS Sydney Marathon 2025, he will add another title to his impressive career. The Kenyan has won almost all of the Abbott World Marathon Majors races as well as two Olympic Games titles.
