As Kenya’s capital city Nairobi gets ready to host the CHAN 2024 tournament, a number of important roads will be closed on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
The traffic alert, which has been issued by the Nairobi traffic police commander Joseph Chirchir is expected to help Kenyans plan their movements effectively.
Among the roads that will be inaccessible from Sunday is the Aerodrome Road, which stretches from Bunyala roundabout to the Madaraka roundabout.

The busy Langata, which serves the residents of Ongata Rongai, Karen and Langata will be partially closed. The closed section stretches between Lusaka and Madaraka roundabouts.
Moreover, motorists planning to use Mombasa Road will be impacted because the government will not allow them to access the section from Lusaka roundabout to the Bunyala roundabout.
Diversions/How to access Nairobi CBD during the CHAN 2024 tournament.
In order to help motorists navigate these closures, the traffic police have provided several alternatives.

For those traveling to the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), they have been advised to use the Likoni-Enterprise road.
Meanwhile, those who usually use the Langata Road to travel to Nairobi CBD are allowed to use Muhoho Road or the Raila Odinga Road.
On the other hand, motorists using the Thika Super Highway to access Nairobi CBD have been advised to consider diverting towards the Eastern Bypass, Limuru Road or Kiambu Road.
Furthermore, the Matatus that will carry passengers to the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani Stadium have been urged to use the Ngomongo Road and Baba Dogo Road.
These road closures and diversions are meant to make it easy for people to access Kasarani Stadium and Nyayo Stadium during the CHAN tournament that is scheduled to end on Saturday, August 30.

Harambee Stars to play CHAN 2024 group matches at Kasarani Stadium
The Kenya national men’s football team, Harambee Stars, will play its matches at the Kasarani Stadium while the Nyayo Stadium will host fixtures such as Zambia vs Angola and DR Congo vs Morocco on August 10 and August 17 respectively.
Should the Harambee Stars advance all the way for the CHAN 2024 final, they will also play that match at the Kasarani Stadium. The final of the delayed edition will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
