Harambee Stars striker Moses Shumah had a breakthrough 2024-2025 season with the Kakamega Homeboyz that saw him bag the Golden Boot award after scoring 17 goals, one more than FC Talanta’s Emmanuel Osoro.
Shumah, who joined Kakamega Homeboyz in 2022, scored more than 10 goals in the second half of the season, a clear indication that he has what it takes to perform under pressure.
His best performance of the season came in the encounter against arch-rivals AFC Leopards where he scored a hat-trick.
Shumah’s goal-scoring prowess, propelled Kakamega Homeboyz to a third place finish in the FKF Premier League.
Benson Omala: 2023-2024 FKF Premier League top scorer
Gor Mahia FC’s hitman Benson Omala scored 19 goals in the 2023-2024 season to win the prestigious FKF Premier League top scorers award.
The award meant a lot for Omala, who had missed to lay his hands on the prestigious trophy the previous season despite scoring an impressive 26 goals (one less than the winner Rupia).
The former Western Stima striker’s performance helped Gor Mahia to win the FKF Premier League and extend their record.
Elvis Rupia: 2022-2023 FKF Premier League top scorer
As mentioned above, Elvis Rupia clinched the FKF Premier League Golden Boot award in the 2022-2023 season.
Rupia, who was playing for Kenya Police FC then, scored 27 goals to break the 47-year-old record that was set by K’Ogalo’s Maurice Ochieng in 1976.
Despite his remarkable goal-scoring record in the 2022-2023 season, he could not help Kenya Police FC to lift the FKF Premier League title. The Law Enforcers finished third.
Derrick Otanga: 2021-2022 FKF Premier League top scorer
Derrick Otanga netted 16 goals in the 2021-2022 season, a tally that was enough to help him win the FKF Premier League top scorers trophy.
Otanga’s consistent performance also guided KCB FC to a seventh-place finish in the competitive football league.
Furthermore, it earned him a chance to play professional football outside the country a few months later, when he signed for Libyan side Al-Ittihad Misurata SC.
Erick Kapaito: 2020-2021 FKF Premier League top scorer
Erick Kapaito, playing for Kariobangi Sharks then, was a force to reckon with at the FKF Premier League in the 2020-2021 season.
Kapaito scored 24 goals and in the process clinched both the FKF Premier League Golden Boot and Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards that season.
