Champions! Kenya Police made history on Sunday, June 15, 2025, winning their first ever FKF Premier League title after a narrow 1-0 victory over Shabana in an intriguing match that was played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.
The wild celebrations from the Kenya Police fraternity witnessed at the end of the memorable encounter confirmed what local most people thought impossible a few seasons ago: the Law Enforcers have reached the pinnacle of Kenyan football.
This well-deserved triumph by Kenya Police brings to a painful end Gor Mahia’s dominance and ushered in a new chapter for local football.

It also proves that team work, discipline and determination can help players achieve any goal they set their focus on.
A slow start for Kenya Police against Shabana
The Kenya Police vs Shabana encounter started at a slow pace with both clubs doing everything possible to avoid conceding an early goal.
However, as the proceedings went on, the Law Enforcers started to gain control of the match and went on to create their first goal scoring opportunity in the 12th minute, hitting the post in the process.
A few minutes later, Shabana were forced to make an early substitution after their dependable player Darius Msagha picked up an injury.

Msagha, who has been one of Shabana’s dependable players this season, was replaced by Oscar Juma.
The visitors came close to opening the scoring in the 23rd minute when Brian Michira set up Omwando, who fired a shot that went out.
Less than 10 minutes later, Michira took a brilliant free kick that forced Kenya Police goalkeeper Job Ochieng to make a brilliant save.

Despite both Shabana and Kenya Police players doing their best to score a goal, the first half ended goalless.
Similar to the start of the match, the second half started at a slow pace with both clubs struggling to create goal scoring chances.
The lack of urgency in the Kenya Police midfield made head coach Etienne Ndayiragije to make a sub in the 61st minute, replacing the experienced Kenneth Muguna with Tyson Otieno.
The move brought energy to his team, who started to enjoy more possession and nearly scored the opening goal four minutes later when Eric Zakayo unleashed a shot that narrowly flew wide.
However, Ndayiragije was not still a happy man. He reacted with three subs with less than 20 minutes remaining to the end of the regulation time.

The Burundian brought David Irashura, Brian Musa and Duncan Otieno in place of Eric Zakayo, David Simiyu and Alvin Mang’eni.
The decision eventually paid fruits in the 76th minute when Brian Okoth headed the ball into the net.
Despite a spirited fight from Shabana, Kenya Police were able to hold on to their slim lead.
The victory increased their tally to 64 points, five more than multiple FKF Premier League winners Gor Mahia, who hammered Ulinzi Stars 3-2 in an entertaining encounter held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
It also ensured Kenya Police secured the prestigious FKF Premier League title for the first time in their history. In other matches played on Sunday, AFC Leopards walloped FC Talanta 3-0 while Kakamega Homeboyz and Nairobi City Stars defeated Bidco United and KCB FC 1-0 and 2-1 in that order.
