Massive shocks have been witnessed in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup 2025 where a number of big names including Atletico, Porto and Al-Ahly have been bundled out of the expanded tournament.
Despite beating Botafogo 1-0 on Sunday night, Atletico Madrid were eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
The side that is coached by Diego Simeone, scored their goal via French midfielder Antoine Griezmann in the 87th minute of the tough clash.

As for African representatives Al-Ahly, their brilliant performance against FC Porto in a match that ended 4-4, was not enough to make them proceed to the round of 16.
But as giants continue to fall, some clubs such as the Lionel Messi led Inter Miami, Palmeiras and the reigning European champions PSG are advancing to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 knockout stage.
Palmeiras and Inter Miami qualified for the knockout stage after finishing first and second in that order in Group A that also had Al-Ahly and FC Porto. The clash between Inter Miami and Palmeiras ended 2-2.

On the other hand, PSG pipped Botafogo to the first place in Group B, with the two clubs advancing to the next round at the expense of Atletico Madrid and Seattle Sounders.
Achraf Hakimi and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were in the score sheet for PSG in their 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders.
The Luis Enrique boys will face a tricky opponent in their next match in Inter Miami that has experienced players such as Luis Suarez and Messi.
For Messi, the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 fixture against PSG will be a special one because it will be his first match against the Parisians since parting ways with the club in June, 2023.

The PSG vs Inter Miami showdown is scheduled to be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday, June 29.
Meanwhile, Brazilian representatives Palmeiras and Botafogo will lock horns in another FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 match on Saturday, June 28.
