The national second 7s team, Kenya Morans, kicked off their 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s 7s Cup campaign in positive manner by thrashing Cote d’Ivoire 38-0 on Saturday morning in Port Louis, Mauritius.

The Morans launched their tournament with intent, and it was KCB’s electric winger Floyd Wabwire who opened the scoring after a dazzling run down the right flank.

Jackson Siketi slotted in the conversion to hand Kenya an early 7-0 advantage.

Wabwire struck again just three minutes later, diving over in the same corner to secure his brace, though the conversion drifted wide, taking the score to 12-0.

As the first half drew to a close, Dennis Abukuse etched his name onto the scoreboard with a superb effort down the left wing, followed by another accurate conversion from Siketi to extend the Morans’ lead to 19-0 at halftime.

The second half unfolded much like the first, with Kenya asserting dominance inside Cote d’Ivoire’s 22.

Making his debut off the bench, Matoka Matoka marked the occasion with his maiden try, stretching the lead further. Abukuse again added the extras for a 26-0 cushion.

Wabwire, in imperious form, completed his hat-trick soon after, as Kenya surged to a 31-0 lead.

The Morans capped off their dominant performance with a sixth try through Felix Okoth just before the final whistle, sealing a comprehensive 38-0 win – the biggest win of the day.

Buoyed by confidence, the Kenya 7s now gear up for their second match of the day against Ghana, with kickoff scheduled for 12:12 PM EAT, followed by a high-stakes showdown with defending champions Uganda at 3:18 PM EAT.
