Kenya Morans continued their commanding form at the ongoing 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s 7s Cup, ruthlessly overpowering Ghana 33-0 in their second match of the tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Labourdonnais Sports Club in Mauritius.

Fresh off a flying start in their opening pool A match, where they blanked Cote d’Ivoire 38-0, the Morans wasted no time asserting themselves.

Captain George Ooro opened the scoring with a powerful surge through Ghana’s defensive line, touching down for the first five points, followed by a successful conversion by Jackson Siketi.

The momentum remained firmly with Kenya as William Mwanji added to the tally with a blistering run to the right corner after a defensive lapse from Ghana. Siketi once again converted, stretching the lead to 14-0.

KCB speedster Floyd Wabwire, who scored a hat-trick in the opener, made his mark again with a try near the posts. Siketi maintained his accuracy, adding two more points for a 21-0 lead.

Kenya closed the first half comfortably ahead, firmly stamping their authority on the contest.

Returning from halftime, captain Ooro completed his brace, extending the score to 26-0 after a missed conversion.

Co-captain Ojwang then capped off the performance with a brilliant try, and Siketi’s conversion sealed the emphatic 33-0 result.

Despite their impressive victory over defending champions Uganda in their opening match (17-7), Ghana could not find any rhythm against the relentless Kenyan side.

Coach Louis Kisia’s remarks after Kenya Morans strong start

Speaking after their dominant start against Cote d’Ivoire, Morans head coach Louis Kisia emphasized a game-by-game approach and praised his squad’s preparation:

I think we have reached our target for game one. At Kenya Sevens, our policy is to take one game at a time. Our major focus today was Cote d’Ivoire. We did our homework, and the boys took it to the pitch and executed the plan we had agreed on.”

We always have a saying, that we have to score twice or thrice in the first half and that happened. In the second half, we added two more tries, and the game was beyond reach for Côte d’Ivoire.”

The Morans are a young team, but we’ve mixed in a bit of experience just to give them morale and boost them in such tournaments. Our next game is against Ghana, which is our immediate focus. We’ll sit down, analyze the videos, and take the field again.”

Kenya will lock horns with Uganda in their third match at 3:18 PM EAT, aiming to reclaim the title they last won in 2023.
