- Faith Kipyegon will try to become the first woman to run a mile in less than four minutes on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the Stade Charléty in Paris, France.
- Kipyegon has revealed that the only thing she has changed in her training ahead of the Nike Breaking4 Project is her mentality.
- Kipyegon, who has won a lot of medals for Kenya in her career, will have to lower her current mile world record of 4:07.64 by more than 7.64 seconds in order to achieve her goal.
The clock is slowly ticking towards Thursday, June 26, 2025, and with each passing second, the anticipation for the Nike Breaking4 Project where Kenyan runner Faith Kipyegon will attempt to become the first woman in history to run a mile in less than four minutes intensifies.
In Paris, Kipyegon, who has already cemented her legacy as one of the best female runners, will be seeking to improve her current world record of 4:07.64 in the event named Breaking4: Faith Kipyegon vs. the 4-Minute Mile.
Although Kipyegon has acknowledged that it will not be an easy task, she is ready to give her best in the event that is scheduled to take place at Stade Charléty and hopefully attain the incredible feat.

Prayer is important to Faith Kipyegon
Like she has always done, the mother of one will ask God to give her the energy and good health to produce an excellent performance.
“I always pray, before going to bed, before going out for training and before racing because in everything we do, we put God first, before we do anything,” she revealed during an online press conference.
During the virtual conference that was held earlier this week, Kipyegon also divulged that she has not changed a lot of things in her training program ahead of the Breaking4 Project.

Faith Kipyegon says her mentality is different ahead of the Nike Breaking4 Project
According to the reigning 5000m world champion, the only thing that she has transformed is her mentality.
“I didn’t change anything in terms of training. What my coach always gives me is the same work I’ve been doing, going into the Olympics or world championships.
I think going into this race, what’s different is the mindset, but the goals are the same. Dreaming of what’s inside of me, which is breaking four,” she explained.

Kipyegon is expected to run behind pacesetters in the event that will be televised all over the world.
Moreover, she will also have special people waiting for her at the finishing line including her loved ones and friend Eliud Kipchoge.
Faith Kipyegon to be supported by family and Eliud Kipchoge at the Nike Breaking4 Project
As stated by Kipyegon, the presence of the people who have supported her at the Stadium will mean a lot for her.
“It’ll be lovely to see Eliud after the finish line. I will feel so great, having somebody like Eliud, who has tried before an attempt like this, and my family.
And all my fans who will be there to watch me achieve what many people think is impossible, and it becomes possible. It’ll be really special for me,” she stated.

The 31-year-old travels to Paris with immense success in her career that has seen her win numerous world championships and Olympic Games medals for Kenya.
At the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Kipyegon entered into history books as the only runner to have ever won three consecutive 1500m Olympic Games gold medals.
Besides her remarkable performances in Paris where she also won a 5000m silver medal, Kipyegon currently holds the 1500m world record of 3:49.04.

Stade Charléty is a special facility to Faith Kipyegon
She set the above record at the 2024 Paris Diamond League that was staged at the Stade Charléty on July 7.
“I have beautiful memories of Paris, breaking the world records and now we are going for the special one. It’s not easy thinking that nobody has ever tried this, no woman has ever tried it. That’s the challenging part.
You have to dream about, ‘How will I cross the 800m mark? How do I cross the 1200m mark? How will I bridge the seven seconds? Everybody is thinking about those seven seconds, but I just want to be myself and think positive,” added Kipyegon.
