Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has announced a formidable squad for the 2025 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship set to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from June 12 to June 22.
Odemba, who suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Morocco with her Harambee Starlets charges in a recent friendly match, released a list of 23 players.
The strong Harambee Starlets team has the likes of experienced players such as Morocco based Violet Nanjala and Simba Queen’s Elizabeth Wambui.

Hussein and Masungo earn Harambee Starlets maiden call-ups
In addition, Odemba has given youngsters such as Kenya Police Bullets FC defender Elizabeth Ochaka a chance and also incorporated several new faces to the team.
In total, two players in Vihiga Queen’s attacker Swaum Nanjaka Masungo and Kibera Soccer Women’s ace Medina Abubakar Hussein have earned their maiden call-ups.
She has also settled on six talented midfielders including Corazone Aquino, Fasila Adhiambo, Martha Amunyolet and Diana Wacera.
Lavender Ann Akinyi, and Abubakar Hussein will also fight for starting positions in the midfield.
Meanwhile, besides Nanjala and Wambui, Odemba has picked attackers such as Tumaini Waliaula and Faith Mboya.
Big names left out of Harambee Starlets squad
The notable exclusions from this Harambee Starlets squad is the explosive Simba Queens attacker Jentrix Shikangwa and Janet Moraa Bundi.
Shikangwa and Bundi, who plays professional football in Egypt, were on the form of their lives in the recently concluded 2024-25 season.
They both scored more than 20 goals in the Tanzania and Egyptian top women’s divisions respectively.
Harambee Starlets will use the CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship to prepare for the upcoming 2026 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final round qualifier match against the Gambia.
The crucial two-legged fixture between Kenya and the Gambia will go down on October 20 and October 28, 2025.
