The world of tennis will be entertained on Sunday as World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz face off in a mouthwatering 2025 French Open final on Sunday, June 8, at Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Alcaraz kept his Roland Garros title defense alive by securing a place in the final after eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti retired due to injury in the fourth set of their semi-final on Friday.

The Spaniard was leading 4-6, 7-6 (7/3), 6-0, 2-0 after two hours and 25 minutes under the closed roof of Court Philippe-Chatrier when Musetti withdrew with a thigh issue.

The 22-year-old Carlitos, is aiming to retain his French Open crown something no male player has achieved since Rafael Nadal’s back-to-back triumphs in 2020.

Although Alcaraz is still far from matching the “King of Clay’s” record 14 titles at Roland Garros, his ambitions remain high.

Boasting an impressive recent record against Sinner, Alcaraz has won all four of his previous Grand Slam finals.

Last year in Paris, he overcame Alexander Zverev in a five-set thriller to claim his maiden French Open trophy, then defeated Novak Djokovic to lift his second Wimbledon title.

On the other side of the net, Sinner’s journey has been both triumphant and turbulent.

Shortly after defending his Australian Open title in January, the Italian accepted a three-month suspension for a positive drug test stemming from a contaminated massage given by his physiotherapist last year.

While found to bear “no fault or negligence”, Sinner was ultimately held accountable for the oversight of his team.

The 23-year-old made a blistering return at the Italian Open last month, racing through the draw to reach the final before being outplayed by Alcaraz. After losing a closely contested first-set tiebreak, Sinner crumbled 6-1 in the second set.

In Paris, however, Sinn er has been simply sublime. He has committed just two double faults throughout the tournament and remains the only competitor across both singles draws not to drop a set.

Not even the legendary Novak Djokovic could wrest a set from him during their semi-final clash on Friday, where Sinner prevailed 6-4, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) in a match that lastesd three hours and 16 minutes.

With victories at the 2024 US Open and 2025 Australian Open, Sinner now seeks a third consecutive Slam, which would mark his first French Open title and level him with Alcaraz on four majors.
