Beatrice Chebet sets a novel 3000m African record

Chebet shocked athletics fans at the 2025 Rabat Diamond League when she led for the bigger part of the 3000m race and went on to set a new African record of 8:11.56.

The Kenyan, who is slowly becoming the queen of the track, narrowly missed the current world record of 8:06.11 that was set by a Chinese athlete Wang Junxia in 1993.

Omanyala lowers his 150m African record

Besides Chebet, another Kenyan runner who has managed to set a new record this year, is Omanyala.

Omanyala, who is known by most of his fans as “The Beast from Nairobi” clocked 14.70 seconds at the 2025 Adidas Atlanta City Games in the United States to improve his 150m African record.

After the historic display, Omanyala took part in the Rabat Diamond League where he crossed the finishing line in 10.05 seconds to settle for a second position in the 100m discipline behind South Africa’s Akani Simbine.

Agnes Jebet Ngetich enters into record books in Germany
