Kakamega Homeboyz vs Kariobangi Sharks
  • Kakamega Homeboyz defeated Kariobangi Sharks 0-2 on Sunday, May 18, at the Dandora Stadium.
  • Moses Shumah and Brian Eshihanda both scored the decisive goals for Homeboyz.
  • It was Shumah’s 17th goal of the season, putting him in sole possession of the top scorer spot—one goal ahead of Emmanuel Osoro.

Red-hot Moses Shumah netted his 17th goal of the season, further cementing his place at the summit of the top scorers’ chart as Kakamega Homeboyz registered their ninth consecutive unbeaten game with a commanding 0-2 win over Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday afternoon at the Dandora Stadium.

The breakthrough came in the 74th minute when Brian Eshihanda found the back of the net, finally breaking the deadlock in a tightly contested match.

Shumah later doubled the advantage in stoppage time, securing all three points for Homeboyz and boosting their chances of climbing into the top three potentially overtaking Gor Mahia and Shabana, depending on the outcomes of their respective fixtures.

Meanwhile, Kariobangi Sharks, desperate for points to escape the relegation scrap, were left frustrated as the defeat leaves them languishing in 15th place – just one spot above the drop zone with 33 points, narrowly ahead of Murang’a SEAL (32).

A potential SEAL victory over Gor Mahia could plunge Sharks deeper into danger.

In Dandora, the game began with an early setback for Sharks as head coach William Muluya was forced to make a substitution just ten minutes in injured Ally Salum made way for Francis Siololo.

The opening half was evenly balanced, with both sides creating half-chances. Defensive solidity stood out on both ends, though attacking finesse was missing.

Around the half-hour mark, Muluya made another forced change when Steve Biko picked up an injury and was replaced by Faiz Opande.

Sharks nearly took the lead late in the first half through Humphrey Aroko and Siololo, but both squandered their opportunities.

Homeboyz also threatened before halftime but could not capitalize, sending both teams into the break locked in a goalless stalemate.

The second half kicked off with renewed energy, especially from Francis Baraza’s Homeboyz, who dominated the opening 10 minutes and came close twice.

Sharks responded with a promising chance in the 68th minute when Siololo blazed over the bar after a brilliant run and assist from Opande a miss that could haunt them.

A minute later, Sharks continued to push as Opande unleashed a shot from outside the box, again assisted by Siololo, but Homeboyz goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala tipped it over for a corner, which yielded no reward.

Homeboyz finally broke through in the 74th minute when Eshihanda rose highest to meet Estone Omengo’s inch-perfect cross, thundering a header into the net.

Sharks had a golden chance to equalize through substitute Isaac Wasambo, who volleyed Aroko’s cross over the bar. Despite further efforts, Wanzala remained impenetrable, pulling off key saves to preserve the lead.

In the 90th minute, Homeboyz sealed the victory. A well-worked move down the left flank culminated in a precise assist for Moses Shumah, who delivered a clinical finish, his 17th of the season to cap off a decisive performance and ensure a valuable three points for the visitors.
