  • AFC Leopards were defeated 2-1 at home by Kakamega Homeboyz at Dandora Stadium on Saturday.
  • Moses Shumah, who scored both the opening goal and the equalizer for Homeboyz, is just one goal behind top scorer Ryan Ogam.
  • Mathare United, on the other hand, secured their second consecutive 3-2 victory against Posta Rangers in another thrilling FKFPL encounter.

Moses Shumah’s dream of clinching the FKFPL 2024/25 Golden Boot moved closer to reality as he netted his 14th goal of the season, helping Kakamega Homeboyz secure a 1-2 victory over AFC Leopards at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday evening in the Ingo Derby.

Shumah, who is just one goal behind the injured top scorer, Tuskers forward Ryan Ogam, found the back of the net just minutes before halftime, equalizing Victor Omune’s opener for the Leopards.

In the second half, a tactical substitution by Francis Baraza saw Henry Omollo score the decisive goal for the visitors, giving them all three points.

The win also marked a much-needed breakthrough for Baraza’s side, who had gone three matches without a victory (LDD). The victory propelled them to fifth place on the standings with 38 points.

On the other hand, despite their dominance in the match, Leopards’ had gone nine matches unbeaten, though five of those were consecutive draws as a result, this defeat marks their sixth consecutive match without a victory, extending their winless streak.

With this loss, Fred Ambani side dropped to sixth place, overtaken by Homeboyz, and now sit on 37 points.

However, they still have a game in hand, and should Shabana win their match on Sunday, Leopards could slip further down the table.
