Kariobangi Sharks’ midfielder Biron Otieno is confident the team will regain top form in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League in their remaining fixtures following the return of injured players who had been sidelined for a while.
Otieno, one of the standout players for the Slum Boys, had been out for three months after sustaining a fracture in his arm during the first-leg match against AFC Leopards in October 2024 at Kenyatta Stadium.
Having missed key players, including top scorer Ally Salum, the Sharks have experienced poor results, resulting in a steady decline on the standings.
Currently, they sit in 13th place with 22 points from four wins, 10 draws, and six losses.

Following his second start against AFC Leopards since his return, where the team was held to a 0-0 draw at Dandora Stadium, Otieno attributed the team’s recent struggles to the injuries to senior players, which affected the morale of those remaining.
“Personally, I would say the performance displayed by my team was due to the setback of injuries that the team sustained. This caused the morale of the players to drop and their mentality weakened since the senior players were not there,”Otieno told SportPesa Blog after the match.
However, Otieno remains optimistic and believes that with the return of key players, the team will regain its momentum and return to its rightful position, fighting for a good position in the remaining 14 matches.
“Now that the squad is complete and all the players are back, I am confident we will begin seeing positive results and we will return to the top,” he said.

He further highlighted that since his comeback, the team has regained strength, stating that they will need to work on finishing, as that is the issue affecting the team’s performance.
“Since my return, the team’s morale has improved significantly. In the upcoming fixtures, we will perform because our issue as a team isn’t defense—it’s scoring. That is what we will focus on,” Otieno explained.
Coach William Muluya’s side will next face Posta Rangers on Friday, 14th, at Dandora Stadium, looking to end their eight-match winless run.
