AFC Leopards extended their winless run to seven matches after being held to a goalless stalemate by Ulinzi Stars at the Dandora Stadium on Wednesday evening in a rescheduled FKF Premier League 2024/25 fixture.
While the result keeps Ingwe in seventh place with 38 points, it was a missed opportunity to close the gap on the league’s frontrunners.
Ulinzi, meanwhile, remain 12th with 32 points, their defensive resilience earning a hard-fought point.
AFC Leopards waste Sitter in opening minutes
The match sprang to life just eight minutes in when Ovella Ochieng’s brilliant run into the box forced a parried save from Ulinzi goalkeeper Issa Emuria, only for Victor Otieno to squander the rebound from point-blank range—a chance he will undoubtedly rue.
Shortly after, Danstun Nyaudo was forced into an early substitution between the posts.
Goalkeeper Issa Emuria, featuring in only his second start for Ulinzi after the clash against Kenya Police, had to be replaced by Ronald Onyango due to injury.
The first half lacked clear-cut chances beyond Otieno’s early miss.
However, during the seven minutes of added time, both sides found attacking rhythm. Ovella Ochieng unleashed two decent efforts for the hosts, both expertly denied by Ulinzi’s goalkeeper.
Ulinzi responded through Boniface Muchiri, who impressed on the left wing.
His cross was intercepted by Levis Opiyo, though he fumbled the ball briefly before recovering it just as Yakeen Muteheli was poised to strike.
Frustration mounts after the break

The first significant moment arrived in the 56th minute when Ulinzi’s substitute goalkeeper Ronald Onyango committed an error outside his box.
Christopher Koloti attempted an ambitious long-range strike, only for Ulinzi defender Fredrick Odour to brilliantly clear the ball off the line.
Some seconds later, Ulinzi’s Yakeen then forced Opiyo into a double save, first from a driven shot, then again after latching onto Meshack Karani’s threaded passnbut the striker’s finishing lacked conviction.
Coach Dastun Nyaudo made his first tactical switch, introducing Dennis Munyao for Karani to inject pace and creativity down the left wing.
As the game wore on, both managers rang in changes. Nyaudo introduced Brian Birgen for Ali Swaleh and brought on Oscar Wamalwa in place of Yakeen Muteheli.
On the other side, Fred Ambani replaced Ronald Sichenje with Clifton Miheso in an effort to find a breakthrough.
Despite both teams crafting dangerous opportunities late on, neither could find the back of the net as the match ended in a hard-fought draw.
