Athletes are in their final preparations ahead of the 2025 London Marathon that is set to be held on Sunday, April 27.
The London Marathon, which is expected to start from 11:05 AM and 11:35 AM for women’s and men’s categories respectively, has attracted a huge pool of brilliant runners.
From the likes of four-time winner Eliud Kipchoge to Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo, who will be making his full marathon debut, the race promises to be a competitive one.
Like the men’s category, the women’s elite field is also made up of road race runners who are known worldwide for their prowess.
These stars include the Kenyan trio of Ruth Chepngetich, Peres Jepchirchir and Joyciline Jepkosgei as well as Dutch sensation Sifan Hassan. Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa, who has a personal best of 2:11.53, will also be in the mix.
Chepngetich and Jepchirchir, who set the current mixed and women’s only marathon world records in the 2024 season, travel to London as some of the favorites. Nonetheless, they will face stiff competition from the likes of Hassan and Assefa.
