The Kenya senior women’s team, Harambee Starlets, will play two friendly matches against the Ivory Coast Women’s National team during the April FIFA window in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The first match is scheduled for Friday, April 4th at 10:00 PM EAT, while the second match will take place four days later on Tuesday, April 8th.

With Ivory Coast being one of the most formidable sides in Africa, these matches will provide an opportunity for the national team to fine-tune their performance ahead of their crucial second-round clash against Gambia in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

The Beldine Odemba-coached team is just one step away from making a return to WAFCON after securing their spot in the final round by defeating Tunisia with a 1-0 aggregate score last month in the first round.

The first leg ended in a goalless draw at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, before Kenya triumphed away with a decisive goal from Terry Engesha.

Kenya’s last appearance in the continental showpiece was in 2016, and with only one more hurdle to clear against Gambia in October, the team is determined to secure a place in the 2026 tournament.

According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), these friendlies will help the team sharpen their skills as they prepare for the 2026 tournament.

These friendlies against Ivory Coast will provide a crucial test for the squad, allowing them to fine-tune their tactics, build cohesion, and gain valuable experience againest a formidable opponent. As the countdown to the qualifiers continues, the Harambee Starlets remain focused on rewriting history and making it to the biggest stage in Africa,- FKF statement read.

Meanwhile, FKF has also organized two friendly matches for the Junior Starlets ahead of their final round of the FIFA U-17 Girls World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

They will face Morocco on April 4th and April 7th in Rabat.

The first leg of the qualifier against Cameroon is scheduled for Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Nyayo National Stadium, with the return leg set for Friday, April 25, 2025, at Stade Olembe.

The winner will secure a spot in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, to be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, 2025.
