The head coach of the men’s national 7s team Kevin Wambua has named a 13-man squad set to compete in the fifth and sixth rounds of the HSBC SVNS Series 2025 set to take place in Hong Kong and Singapore.

The Hong Kong 7s will take place from March 28-30 followed by the Singapore 7s on April 5-6.

After a disappointing performance at the Vancouver 7s last month, where the team failed to win any of their five matches, Wambua has made only one change to the squad that participated in Canada.

Kabras Sugar’s promising teenager, Jackson Siketi, who made his debut in Vancouver, has been omitted, making room for Festus Shiasi who returns to the squad after a break.

George Ooro and Samuel Asati will retain thei captaincy duties for the two upcoming events.

Wambua has also retained Jone Kubu who made his debut in the previous round.

The squad will also feature regulars such as Patrick Odongo, who missed the last three matches in Canada due to injury, and seasoned players like Denis Abukuse, Brian Tanga, Tony Omondi, Nygel Amaitsa, and Kevin Wekesa.

Additionally, Vincent Onyala, a key player with extensive experience, also makes the cut.

Shujaa will begin their Hong Kong 7s campaign against Spain on March 28 at 6:39 AM, followed by a clash with Great Britain later that day at 9:23 AM.

Their final pool C match will be against France on March 29 at 5:12 AM with all three matches will be played at the Kai Tak Stadium.

Shujaa’s best achievement in Hong Kong

Currently ranked ninth with 15 points, trailing Great Britain in eighth with 32 points, Shujaa will aim to bounce back from their recent setbacks in Canada and secure a better finish to avoid relegation.

With their sights set on a higher ranking, Kenya’s best performance in Hong Kong came in 2018 when they reached the final, only to lose to Fiji 24-12.

This historic achievement could provide a morale boost as they head into the tournament.
