Mathare United coach John Kamau reflects on costly slip against Posta Rangers

Mathare United head coach John Kamau has expressed satisfaction with the single point they earned against Shabana FC in their 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon at Gusii Stadium in Kisii.

Despite numerous chances from both teams, the match ended in a stalemate, with Mathare United’s goalkeeper, Michael Wanyika, being hailed as the hero of the day for his brilliant saves that ensured the team secured a point against Shabana.

Kamau praised Wanyika for his crucial performance.

“The most important thing is that I’m very happy, especially with our keeper, Wanyika. In the early stages of the game, he made a brilliant save in the first half, which kept us in the match. In the second half, he again made an excellent save from a free kick,” Kamau told the club’s media after the match.

Kamau noted that despite the draw, securing four points against Shabana this season is a significant achievement as the team continues its battle to stay in the league for the following season.

“I’m pleased with the point today because, when you add this point to the three we collected at our turf against Shabana, I can say it’s a big plus for us, especially in terms of our campaign to secure our place in the league next season,” he added.

Kamau also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the new signings, noting their positive integration into the team, which has contributed to the overall improvement of the squad’s performance.

“We had several chances that we could have converted, but the most important thing I love about the team is how the new signings are blending in. That’s a huge boost for us,” he concluded.
