Gor Mahia are set for a tough test on Sunday, September 6, when they host Egyptian giants Pyramids FC in the first leg of the Round One of the 2026 CAF Champions League preliminary round at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium.
The SportPesa League record champions are making a comeback to the continental stage after reclaiming the domestic league last season for a record-extending 22nd time.
They reached the second preliminary round of the 2024–2025 competition before being eliminated by Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Meanwhile, Pyramids FC will arrive in Nairobi on Thursday, September 3, as CAF Champions League heavyweights under new boss Rulani Mokwena.

In that regard, K’Ogalo, one of the clubs in the country with a huge following, have already released tickets for this crucial encounter as they expect their passionate supporters to be the 12th man who will fuel their performance this Sunday before they head into a hostile environment against the Egyptian side on Sunday, September 13.
In a bid to encourage early purchases, the club introduced an early-bird offer, with regular tickets priced at just KSh200, VIP at KSh1,000, and VVIP at KSh2,000.
The promotional rate was available for five days, with the deadline set for midnight on Sunday, August 30.
Meanwhile, regular tickets will go for KSh300. For fans seeking a more premium experience, VIP tickets are priced at KSh1,500, while VVIP seats are set at KSh3,000.
In a special offering, the club has also made presidential area tickets available at KSh10,000. However, only 30 such tickets will be up for purchase, making them a highly exclusive option for the match.
In line with strict CAF guidelines, the club has confirmed that no tickets will be sold on match day.
Fans are strongly urged to secure their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
“As per CAF regulations, there will be no tickets sold at the stadium on the day of the match (Sunday). We appeal to all our supporters to secure their tickets in advance,” stated club secretary Nic Arum.

Head coach Charles Akonnor, who has been on the receiving end of criticism over his squad selection, especially following their recent 3-1 defeat to Tusker FC, has called upon Gor Mahia fans to turn up in large numbers and rally behind the team, saying they are the fuel in their journey.
“We need these fans. They are the 12th man. In fact, whenever we are down, we really need them to come in large numbers and support us.”
The winner will face either El Merreikh Bentiu or Heegan FC in the second preliminary round.
