Gor Mahia
  • Gor Mahia FC are scheduled to play against Mathare on Saturday.
  • The game which is expected to take place at the Dandora Stadium will start at 3 PM East African Time (EAT).
  • Mihic will be looking to start his Gor Mahia FC managerial campaign with a win.

Gor Mahia FC head coach Sinisa Mihic has expressed confidence in his players performing well in the upcoming clash against Mathare United that is planned to take place on Saturday.

Mihic, who joined the club earlier this week, will be seeking to start his journey with the record Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champions on a high.

However, that will not be easy since they come up against a Mathare United side that is in dire need of a victory.

The Slum Boys have gone three matches without registering a win, a situation that has made them drop nearer to the relegation zone.

Nevertheless, Mihic has set his eyes on the three points that will be on offer in the match that will be staged at the Dandora Stadium.

“This match is like any other match, no difference. We are going to try to win and if we win they will be happy. We have to win, for us, for the club, for the fans. There is no other option,” explained the 48-year-old tactician.

Mihic added that he has brilliant players at his disposal who have the potential to become better with time.

According to the Croatian, he has identified some of the areas he will need to work on with his players in the coming days.

“We have good, competitive, hungry and dynamic players from what I can see. So, I am sure they are good now, they can be better. They have already worked 20 years, football does not start with me, so they have played football all their lives.

I need to find ways to improve them. There are many aspects that I see that I can improve, so that means mentally, physically, tactically, everywhere you can find the space, and the organization of the all team. That’s why I am here, to work on it,” offered Mihic.

A win for Gor Mahia on Saturday will help them close the gap against leaders Kenya Police FC, who sit at the top of the log with 37 points.

Mihic ended by divulging that he is not worried about the six point gap, since there are still a lot of matches to be played.

“I don’t think about it, I think about the next game and I don’t care about points. We need to win and that is it. I have to think about the team and how we will play. That’s all, and wait and see the outcome at the end of the season.

If we win all the matches, it will be good for us. We will be happy. If another team wins all their matches, we cannot do anything,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia, who are planning to strengthen their squad this mid-season transfer window, has released four players.

These four include Enock Wanyama, Musa Masika, Kevin Juma and reserve goalkeeper Dolph Junior Owino.
