Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia might seek to re-sign their former sensational forward Benson Omalla during the mid-season transfer window in January.
Omalla made the bold decision to part ways with K’Ogalo in August after his impressive performances over the past two seasons, including clinching the 2023/2024 Golden Boot with 19 goals as the top scorer.
The 23-year-old had signed a one-year deal with Lebanese top-flight side Safa Sporting Club, but his time there has not gone well.
Since arriving at the club, the situation has been difficult, especially after the Israel-Hezbollah war prevented him from traveling back after international duty in August.

Additionally, Omalla could not return to Lebanon due to the club not settling his sign-on fees.
Although there have been announcements regarding his return to training and resolving the fee issue, he has yet to return to Lebanon.
It now seems Omalla may not go back to Safa, and Francis Wasuna, Gor Mahia’s vice-chairman, has hinted that the club is hoping to reunite with him in January.
“There is strong interest in his services. We parted ways with him in a very courteous way and that is why we are opening the door for him to return.” Wasuna told SportsBoom.
“We sympathize with him as factors beyond his control have denied him the opportunity to play. We hope to have the deal completed in the mid-season window.”

However, Wasuna disclosed that the club does not intend to sign many players in January, though they may look to bring in a striker to strengthen their finishing.
“We have no intentions of signing many players in January as we have depth in the squad. We only need a striker,” he added.
Gor Mahia has struggled this season without a permanent forward. Coach Zico has tried to make use of available players, but the team still needs a reliable finisher like Omalla, especially as one of their key players, Gedeon Bendeka, has yet to find form at the club.
As Gor Mahia hopes to bring Omalla back, his father has yet to receive any official offer from the club. However, he stated that his son has been training and is ready for a new challenge if the opportunity arises.
“I have heard from Gor regarding the return of Benson to the club. However, there is still time between now and the January window.
Benson has been training hard and is looking forward to returning to competitive football in January,” he said.
