Harambee Stars striker Benson Omalla has officially completed his move from Gor Mahia to Lebanon topflight side Safa Sporting Club, SportPesa Blog can confirm.
Omalla makes the move following an impressive 23/24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League campaign that saw him clinch the Golden Boot after finding the back of the net 19 times.
The move, reported to be on a one year deal, also brings to an end rife speculation regarding Omalla’s future who was on the verge of leaving K’Ogalo back in February 2024 but saw his deal fall through at the final hour.
“Al-Safa FC announce the signing of Kenyan striker, Benson Omala (23 years old), who hails from Kenyan club Gor Mahia in Nairobi to boost the squad’s lines for the 2024-2025 season.
Benson Omala has played for both Western Stima and Gor Mahia in Kenya, as well as professional with Swedish club Linkoping City, and participated in two CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League tournaments during his career. Back in February this year, the former Western Stima man was primed to complete his move to Algerian top tier side JS Saoura, but the deal failed to materialize after the club was blamed for their delay in sending back signed documents on time.
According to details of the deal, Omalla was to be offered a tantalizing package that included a net salary of $8,000 (approximately Ksh 1,312,720) per month, a house, a personal car, match bonuses and medical insurance cover once the contract was signed, only for the deal to fall through in its final stages.
This time, the Gor Mahia management has confirmed that the deal has gone through.
“The player has moved to Beirut in Lebanon. That is the much I know,” Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ocholla confirmed to SportPesa Blog.
