The Kenya U17 men’s national team, Junior Stars, suffered a 0-1 defeat to Tanzania’s Serengeti Boys in their opening Group A match of the U17 AFCON 2025 CECAFA qualifiers at Nakivubo Hamz Stadium in Uganda.
Juma Sagwe’s goal in the 19th minute helped Tanzania top Group A which also includes Uganda.
Agrey Morris side now has four points after drawing 1-1 with Uganda in their first match on Sunday 15 and have secured a spot in the semifinals.

Kenya’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco are now on a knife-edge.
They must defeat Uganda in their final group match on Saturday, December 21, to keep their hopes alive.
A win would secure a spot in the semifinals, and from there, a potential victory could qualify them for the continental tournament with only two teams from the CECAFA region earning tickets.
Kenya became the second team to lose in the tournament after defending champions Somalia were beaten 3-1 by South Sudan in their Group B match.

Later in the day, South Sudan will face Sudan in a Group B match at the same venue.
