KCB head coach Patrick Odhiambo has squarely placed the blame for his team’s 2-0 defeat to Shabana on the match officials during their encounter on Sunday at the Gusii Stadium.
The loss marked KCB’s second of the season, leaving them level on points with Tusker FC, who also sit second with 24 points.
Brian Michira broke the deadlock for Peter Okidi’s side in the first half when Farouk Shikahola had initially blocked a shot from Mathew Tegisi but the rebound fell to Michira who made no mistake in putting the ball in the back of the net.
The second goal came in added time during the second half, when Austin Odongo sealed the win for Shabana.

Odhiambo, visibly frustrated after the match, criticized the referee’s decisions, describing them as out of place in modern football.
“I have to say this – there is so much work to be done on officiating. It’s a disgrace in this day and age. The decisions made today leave me speechless. I can’t even begin to fathom it,” Odhiambo stated.
When asked about any tactical issues with his squad, Odhiambo remained steadfast in his defense, reiterating that his team was fully prepared for the match.
“There was nothing wrong with my tactical setup. The referee was the sole problem. Football is a competition. Players train for an entire week to come out and compete fairly, and for the fans to enjoy the game.
But what that we witnessed today? That’s something from the past, not modern football,” Odhiambo declared with frustration.

He also took issue with the behavior of the center referee, claiming he acted like a policeman, handing out cards indiscriminately.
“The referee acted like a police officer – you couldn’t even approach him. His only job seemed to be issuing cards at will,” Odhiambo reiterated angrily.
Despite the setback, KCB remain top of the league on goal difference over Tusker FC, with 24 points from six wins and six draws after 14 matches.
