One-time Kenya Cup champions Mwamba RFC have finally secured a new home venue following their relocation from the Nairobi Railway Club.

In an official statement on Monday afternoon, Mwamba announced Goan Institute as their new home, ending their three-year search.

“Mwamba Rugby Football Club is proud to announce a new partnership with the Goan Institute, marking a significant milestone in the club’s journey after three years of searching for a permanent home following its exit from the historic Nairobi Railway Club,” a statement from the club read.

In the communique, Mwamba confirmed the venue will see as the hub of their operations and will even host the Kabeberi 7s tournament which is one of the regular legs on the annual National Sevens Circuit.

“This agreement, effective from 1 January 2025, provides a stable base for the club’s operations, training and match-day activities.

The partnership encompasses a comprehensive agreement detailing access to the Goan Institute’s sports facilities on designated days and times, ensuring the smooth continuation of Mwamba’s training programs and match-day schedules.

The facility will serve as the home ground for both the men’s and women’s teams, competing across four leagues, and will host major events such as the iconic Kabeberi Sevens, scheduled between July and September 2025.

This collaboration highlights a shared commitment to fostering sports development, as Mwamba Rugby Club will fund and oversee pitch rehabilitation and maintenance to meet Kenya Rugby Union standards. Additionally, the cricket programs remain uninterrupted, giving the Institute’s sports ground the unique position as a dual-sport venue.

The partnership also includes provisions for secure parking, use of changing rooms, catering services, and pavilion access, creating a conducive environment for athletes and fans alike.

Mwamba Rugby Club extends its gratitude to the Goan Institute for their support and looks forward to a fruitful partnership that will benefit not only the club but also the local community.

This new chapter underscores the club’s resilience and dedication to promoting rugby excellence and community engagement.
