Shabana FC’s sensational winger, Brian Michira, has revealed his goal-scoring ambitions for this season after helping his team secure a 2-1 victory against Talanta FC on Sunday at the Gusii Stadium.

The Kisii-born star has been a pivotal player in Peter Okidi’s squad, currently leading the team’s scoring chart with six goals after 12 matches.

His Sunday brace followed a late goal against Posta Rangers, which rescued his team from losing three crucial points in a midweek match.

Michira had also scored a brace against AFC Leopards, helping Shabana FC clinch a 2-1 victory at Gusii Stadium, and he netted a goal in a 1-1 draw with Kariobangi Sharks.

Speaking after the Talanta FC match, Michira expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to help the club secure the three points, as well as for being named Player of the Month for November.

β€œI’m extremely happy to have scored two goals today. Securing the three points was vital for us, especially as the table was starting to look unfavorable. On top of that, I’m thrilled to have been named Player of the Month after helping the club earn valuable points last month,” Michira said.

The former Kiandege Jets player, who has shown great promise, shared his goal for the remainder of the season: to score at least 10 goals by the end of the first leg.

Additionally, Michira aims to finish as one of the top scorers with double-digit goals, a significant improvement over last season when he ended with seven goals.

β€œIf God helps me, I want to finish the first leg with 10 goals. I’ll work hard this season and push myself to achieve this target because last season I only scored seven goals. This time, I’m determined to reach double figures,” he added.

The 2021 National Super League (NSL) Young Player of the Year is currently in the race for the Golden Boot, alongside Tusker FC’s Ryan Ogam, who leads the log with 10 goals, and Francis Kahiro of KCB, who has 7 goals. Michira sits in third place with six goals.
