The reigning 1500m world record holder Faith Kipyegon has finally disclosed how she met her husband Timothy Kiptum.
Kipyegon and Kiptum are one of the most popular athletics couples in the world at the moment owing to the colossal success that they have achieved in their glittering careers.
However, despite their celebrity status, very few individuals are aware of how their romantic relationship started.
According to Kipyegon, she met her beloved husband during the 2012 Olympic Games that was staged in London.
“My husband has been a supporting husband. He has been supporting me all through since we met. He was an Olympian as well.
He ran with Rudisha in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He was number 3. So, that is where we met, and you know, I was still in school as well, so we tried to focus on our academics,” she divulged during an interview with Safaricom PLC.

The 5000m Olympic Games silver medalist hilariously added that if she was not disciplined, they would have had more than one child.
The three time Olympic Games gold medalist and Kiptum were blessed with a beautiful daughter in June 2018, who they named Alyn.
A Brief Look Into Timothy Kiptum’s Career
Although Kiptum did not match the extraordinary success that her wife continues to attain on the track and cross country events, he managed to put his name in Kenya’s athletics records before hanging his boots a few years ago.
The 30-year-old broke into the limelight during the 2012 Olympic Games, where he produced a breathtaking display in the 800m discipline to secure a bronze medal for Kenya in a race in which his compatriot David Lekuta Rudisha set the current world record of 1:40:91.

Kiptum clocked a lifetime best of 1:42:53 to finish closely behind Botswana’s Nijel Amos, who crossed the finishing line in a national record time of 1:41:73.
Besides the memorable Olympic performance, Kiptum also won a couple of medals for his country including a World Youth Junior Championships silver medal and a Commonwealth Youth Games title.
The Most Significant Moment in Faith Kipyegon’s Career
Meanwhile, when Kipyegon was asked about the most significant race of her career, she picked the 2011 Kenyan national U18 Cross Country trials.
“Well, what is still in my mind and it will remain in my heart is that young girl running barefoot. Because you know, if you can run barefoot and today you are running with spikes, you are given like five pairs of spikes and you can choose which one to use, it is really heart-touching.
Every time I go to the track and think of how far I have come, running barefoot and now, I am running with spikes and winning medals and breaking records, it is still in my heart,” she explained.
