Kenya Harlequin Queens produced one of their most commanding displays of the 2026 SportPesa National 7s Circuit as they dismantled Kisumu Dolphins 49-0 to book their place in the Christie 7s quarter-finals at the RFUEA Grounds.
Playing on home ground in the 60th edition of the Christie 7s, the Queens wasted little time in stamping their authority on the contest, putting the Dolphins under pressure from the opening exchanges and maintaining a high tempo throughout the match.
Experienced forward Freshia Odour opened the scoring after breaking through the Kisumu defensive line. Odour showed good pace and awareness, cutting back inside before rounding the remaining defenders to race over for the first try. Marvel Oswago converted to give the hosts an early 7-0 advantage.

The Queens continued to dominate possession and territory, with their attacking shape causing problems for the Dolphins defence. Delon Indombo, now in her second season of 7s rugby, provided another attacking spark out wide, using her pace on the right flank to finish off a flowing move and extend the lead to 12-0. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Odour was soon back on the scoresheet after reacting quickest to a loose ball following a Dolphins kick. Showing her experience and hunger around the breakdown, she gathered possession and went on a solo run to complete her second try of the afternoon, pushing the score to 17-0.
The Dolphins struggled to get out of their own half as the Queens continued to pin them back. Sheryl Owaga then crossed for another try shortly before the interval, with the successful score taking Kenya Harlequin Queens into the break with a commanding 22-0 lead.
The second half brought more of the same as the hosts continued to play with intensity and purpose.
A well-worked team move produced the next try. Maxine Abuga started the attack with a show-and-go before Maureen Murutu combined with Catherine Elizabeth. Elizabeth then powered through on the flank to finish the move, with Murutu adding the conversion to stretch the advantage to 29-0.
Abuga soon got her own name on the scoresheet, finishing another Queens attack as the hosts moved beyond the 30-point mark. With the Dolphins struggling to contain the constant waves of pressure, another try followed to make it 39-0, although Murutu could not add the extras.
Angel Salamba then produced an important break, finding Elizabeth on the left flank. The influential winger made no mistake as she crossed for another try, taking the score to 44-0.
Elizabeth has been one of the consistent performers for Kenya Harlequin Queens throughout the 2026 SportPesa National 7s Circuit, featuring in every leg of the campaign, and her contribution once again underlined her importance to the side.
The Dolphins never managed to establish themselves inside the Queens’ 10-metre area, with the hosts controlling both territory and possession. Indombo added another try after finishing from an offload, while Sheila Chajira was involved in the quick touch-and-go phase that helped create the opening.
Murutu was unable to convert the final try, but it mattered little as Kenya Harlequin Queens completed a ruthless 49-0 victory.
The result sends the hosts into the Christie 7s quarter-finals with their confidence high as they continue their push for honours in the final leg of the SportPesa National 7s Circuit.
