Kabras Sugar Rugby produced a dominant display in the Rai Derby, running riot against rivals Menengai Oilers to secure a 22-5 victory and book their place in the SportPesa National 7s Circuit Embu 7s Main Cup final against rivals KCB Rugby.
Kabras controlled the contest from the opening whistle, combining pace, power and quick ball movement to keep the Oilers defence under constant pressure. Their reward was a convincing victory that sends them into the final, where they will face KCB Rugby.
Kabras got off to a flying start when Kevin Wekesa burst straight through the middle with impressive pace before handing the ball to Mike Lukusi. Lukusi made no mistake with the opportunity, touching down for the opening try.
Lukusi then added the conversion himself to give Kabras an early 7-0 advantage.

The Western-based side continued to dictate the tempo, with their attack repeatedly finding gaps in the Oilers defensive line. Derrick Ashiundu soon added another try to stretch Kabras’ lead to 12-0. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
Oilers struggled to match Kabras’ intensity as the first half progressed, with the latter maintaining pressure through strong carries and quick recycling at the breakdown.
Kabras went into the interval holding a comfortable 12-0 lead.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Kabras immediately looking to put the game beyond Oilers’ reach.
Jackson Siketa added another try after being set up by Mathias Osimbo, extending Kabras’ advantage to 17-0. The conversion was unsuccessful, but the score put further pressure on Menengai Oilers.
Kabras continued to attack with purpose, and Rayvon Ambale soon crossed the whitewash for another try. The score further widened the gap and left Oilers with a mountain to climb in the closing stages.
Menengai Oilers continued to search for a consolation score and eventually found a breakthrough right at the death through Veron Kaburu.
The late try gave Oilers their first points of the contest, but it was too little too late as Kabras held on for a comfortable 22-5 victory.
The result sees Kabras Sugar Rugby advance to the Embu 7s Main Cup final, where they will face KCB Rugby in what promises to be an exciting title showdown.
KCB booked their place in the final after edging a resilient Daystar Falcons side 15-12 in the other semi-final.
Kabras will now be looking to cap their impressive Embu 7s campaign by lifting the Main Cup title, while KCB will be aiming to stand in their way and claim the crown.
