Kenya Police Bullets will be aiming to cap off an impressive campaign with silverware when they face Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies in the final of the CECAFA Women’s CAF Champions League Qualifiers at Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda today.
The final is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 PM EAT with both teams knowing that victory will not only deliver regional bragging rights but also a place in the history books and a ticket to CAF Women’s Champions League.
For Kenya Police Bullets the occasion presents an opportunity to take another major step forward after a strong showing throughout the tournament. The FKF Women’s Premier League champions have looked confident since their opening match and have remained unbeaten on their route to the final.
The Kenyan side began their campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tanzania Women’s Premier League champions Simba Queens, before following it up with a convincing 3-1 win against Top Girls Academy in the group stage.
Their biggest statement of intent came in the semi-final, where they produced a dominant display to thrash Yei Joint Stars FC 5-0 securing their place in the final with an emphatic performance.

Police Bullets head coach David Bujego believes his team are now one step away from achieving the objective they set before travelling to Rwanda.
“It’s the last match, and as we said after the first game, we came here to win the four matches. We are grateful that we have got the three wins, and we are just remaining with one win to at least achieve our target,” Bujego said ahead of the match.
The former Kibera Soccer Ladies coach also provided a positive update on the squad’s fitness ahead of the decisive encounter, although two players remain doubtful.
“We have two injuries, but hopefully they will be ready for the final,” he added.
Standing between Police Bullets and the trophy is a Kawempe Muslim Ladies side that has also enjoyed an impressive run in Kigali.
The Ugandan champions opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ethiopia’s CBE, before producing one of the biggest results of the tournament with an emphatic 8-0 victory over FC Ujeco.
They then faced CBE again in the semi-final and showed their consistency by securing a comfortable 3-0 win to book their place in the final.
Kawempe Muslim have arguably been the more prolific attacking side heading into the showdown. They have scored 12 goals in three matches, while keeping three clean sheets. Police Bullets, meanwhile, have found the net 10 times and conceded just twice.
The numbers point towards a fascinating contest between two sides that have demonstrated both attacking quality and defensive discipline.
For Kawempe Muslim head coach Ayub Khalif the final carries additional significance as he prepares to lead his team into his first CECAFA final.
“It’s my first final and I’ve told them it’s the opportunity we have this time to represent the CECAFA region. We are very optimistic that we are going to get a win,” Khalif said.
The Ugandan coach is also confident that his side can deal with the tactical demands of the encounter.
“Tactically, we can handle this game and get the best out of it,” he added.
The final will also make history as the first meeting between Kenya Police Bullets and Kawempe Muslim Ladies with the two clubs yet to face each other in any competitive fixture.
For Police Bullets, the stakes are even higher. A victory would see them become only the second Kenyan club after Vihiga Queens to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League, following Vihiga’s achievement in 2021.
That possibility gives the final an added layer of importance for the Kenyan champions. After conquering the domestic scene, Police Bullets are now 90 minutes away from earning a place among Africa’s elite women’s clubs.
Kawempe Muslim, however, will have exactly the same ambition and will arrive in the final believing their attacking form can cause problems for the Kenyan champions.
With both teams undefeated, two potent attacks and a continental prize at stake, Kigali Pele Stadium promises to provide the perfect stage for what should be a gripping final.
