- SportPesa Boxing Night (second quarterly edition) is set for Saturday, July 25, at the Edge Convention Centre, Nairobi.
- UFS Boxing, in collaboration with title sponsor and leading online gaming firm SportPesa, will stage a total of 11 electrifying bouts.
- Headlining the showdown will be the UBO Intercontinental Lightweight title, with Kenya’s Javan Buyu taking on Tanzania’s Ramadhan Idd.
All is set for the second edition of the quarterly SportPesa Boxing Night, scheduled for Saturday, July 25, at the Edge Convention Centre, Nairobi.
UFS BXNG, in collaboration with title sponsor and leading online gaming firm SportPesa, will stage a total of 11 electrifying bouts featuring fighters from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, DR Congo, Ethiopia, and Morocco also represented on the card.
The lineup features four headline bouts, with one championship belt on the line, while the remaining seven undercard clashees are expected to build up the excitement.

SportPesa Boxing Night marks a major revival of boxing in the country following a KSh 40 million sponsorship deal announced earlier this year to uplift local boxers.
This quarter’s main event comes on the heels of the SportPesa Boxing Rising Stars series, which saw two fights staged and broadcast live on the SportPesa YouTube channel in May and June.

Headlining the showdown at the Edge Convention Centre will be the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) Inter Continental Lightweight title.
The 10-round contest will pit Kenya’s sensational Javan Buyu against Tanzania’ s Ramadhan Idd.
Buyu heads into the ring carrying an unbeaten record of seven fights, including four knockout victories. He will be looking to preserve that impressive run while chasing his third career title.
SportPesa inject 40 million to revive Kenyan boxing in UFS partnership
The Kenyan is the reigning National Lightweight Champion, having captured the belt in October 2025 after defeating Christopher Osicho for his first professional title.
He later added the Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania (PST) Lightweight title to his collection.
He claimed the vacant PST title in April this year after stopping Tanzania’s Athumani Nassoro via a third-round technical knockout (TKO) at the Edge Convention Centre during the inaugural SportPesa Boxing Night.
With another title at stake, the 29-year-old says he is fully prepared for Saturday night and has promised fans an entertaining contest.
“I’ve been working and praying for this title. My team and I have worked tirelessly for July 25 and we’re ready. We’ve sharpened every aspect of our game that’s needed to get the victory,” Buyu said.
“This title is very important to me because it will motivate people who are starting boxing and those who look up to me. It will also open doors for me to compete on bigger stages around the world.”
The National and PST Lightweight champion says he has focused on improving his footwork, counter-punching, and body shots, believing the extra work will prove decisive against the experienced Tanzanian.
Standing in the way of Buyu’s third title and unbeaten streak is the experienced Ramadhan Idd, who boasts a record of 10 fights, nine wins, and just one defeat across 52 rounds.
Idd arrives in Kenya riding a five-fight unbeaten streak. His most recent outing came against Rashid Makali in a lightweight contest at the Punch to Punch event held at Uwanja wa Kinesi in Tanzania, where he secured victory by unanimous decision.
The 28-year-old orthodox fighter has warned Buyu that he intends to knock him out and take the title back to Tanzania.
“I’ve been in training for almost three months and everything is under control. I’ve been sent from home, and I believe I’ll return with the belt because the belt must go home. I want to tell him to prepare himself because Ramadhani Iddi is not a joke boxer,” he said.

The main event will cap off an action-packed night after fans are treated to an exciting lineup of 10 supporting bouts.
Among the highly anticipated matchups, defending World Boxing Association (WBA) Africa Gold Lightweight champion John Juma will face Amon Thobias, while DR Congo’s Lucien Botumbe takes on Tanzania’s Furaha Andengenye.
Morocco’s Hamza Bounabri will make his professional debut against Kenya’s Jamal Hathuwani, while compatriot Habib Nasro will also make his debut against Kenya’s Nicodemus Hagai.

General admission tickets are priced at KSh 1,500, while ringside seats cost KSh 4,000.
Gates will open at 4pm EAT, with the opening bout scheduled for 5pm. The action-packed event is expected to run until midnight.
