- SportPesa 7s reigning overall champions KCB Rugby are ready to begin the defence of their 2026 title.
- The Bankers will kick off their campaign at the opening leg of the six-stop circuit, the Prinsloo 7s.
- The Prinsloo 7s will take place at Nakuru Athletic Club from July 25–26, with the Bankers drawn in Pool C.
Overall defending Sportpesa National Sevens Circuit champions KCB Rugby will be aiming to make a strong statement when they kick off their title defence at the 2026 Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru this weekend.
The bankers head into the opening leg of the 2026 circuit determined to better their last season’s performance at the tournament, where they finished as runners-up after falling 26-7 to Strathmore Leos in the Main Cup final.
Speaking during a training session at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka, Head Coach Andrew Amonde said:
“We are excited to get back into competitive rugby and begin another National Sevens Circuit campaign. The players have put in a tremendous amount of work during pre-season, and the focus now is to translate that preparation into strong performances on the pitch.
We know the competition will be tough from the very first tournament, but our ambition is to start the season positively and challenge for the Prinsloo 7s title.”

KCB enjoyed one of their most successful sevens campaigns last season, culminating in a historic overall circuit triumph.
The bankers sealed the 2025 National Sevens Circuit title at the Dala 7s in Kisumu, where they defeated long-time rivals Kabras Sugar 12-5 in the final to lift the tournament trophy and confirm their status as circuit champions.
The victory crowned a remarkable season in which KCB accumulated a record-breaking 126 points to finish at the summit of the 2025 Sportpesa National Sevens Circuit standings, underlining their consistency across all six legs of the competition.
“Winning the overall circuit last season was a special achievement for everyone involved with the club, but that is now behind us. Every new season presents fresh challenges and new opportunities.
We know what it takes to compete at the highest level, and the objective is to begin strongly at Prinsloo 7s. The team is hungry, focused, and determined to fight for the title this weekend,” noted Captain Elvis Olukusi.

In Nakuru, their pool closely mirrors last season’s Pool C, with CUEA Monks once again among their opponents after the Bankers edged them 17-10 last year.
They will also face Nondescripts, whom they hammered 50-0, while NYS Spades complete the group.
The team has been bolstered by the KCB arrival of Kenyan internationals Nygel Amaitsa from Strathmore Leos and David Nyangige from Impala RFC; both may make their debuts this weekend for the Amonde-led side.
After the Prinsloo 7s, attention will quickly shift to Kisumu for the Dala 7s, scheduled for August 1 – 2, 2026
