Morocco vs Haiti
  • Morocco vs Haiti: The Atlas Lions staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Haiti 4-2 in their final Group C match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
  • Despite the victory, Morocco finished second in Group C on seven points, level with group leaders Brazil but behind on goal difference.
  • The match was played at Atlanta Stadium on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Minnows Haiti produced a sensational display in the final Group Stage match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, eager to exit with dignity, only for Morocco to stage a late 4-2 comeback and spoil their party at Atlanta Stadium on Thursday.

Just 10 minutes in, already eliminated Haiti drew first blood.

Kevin Duverne raced to the byline, sent in a cross, and Lenny Joseph cleverly flicked it home after the goalkeeper missed it, putting his side 1-0 up, though the goal was later credited as an own goal by Yassine Bounou.

Haiti held their defensive and midfield shape impressively and managed to keep Morocco at bay for a while, but not forever.

The African giants leveled in the 38th minute through Achraf Hakimi. It all started when Brahim Diaz charged down the left and whipped a cross into a crowded box.

Hakimi got on the end of it and bundled the ball over the line. VAR took a look as Haiti players appealed for handball, but the decision stood, leveling things for Morocco, who turned in a sloppy first half display filled with wayward passes and shaky dominance.

But Haiti exposed just how blunt the Atlas Lions were early on, and they reclaimed the lead six minutes later through Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor, who scored one of the finest goals of the tournament.

After Haiti won the ball back following a stretch of back and forth possession, Isidor took a single touch and unleashed an absolute rocket from 31 yards into the top left corner.

Before the Haitian fans could even catch their breath from that joy, everything shifted again.

Morocco pulled level after Saibari benefited from a clever dummy by Diaz to find space in the box, collected a low cross from Hakimi, and fired a right footed strike for his third World Cup goal, making it 2-2 just before the break.

The second half lacked the same intensity, although Morocco continued pushing for a winner. Several promising attacks failed to produce a breakthrough, but persistence eventually paid off.

Substitute Soufiane Rahimi came off the bench to score Morocco’s third goal and later played a crucial role in the fourth.

Deep into stoppage time, Haiti were left furious as they believed the ball had gone out of play for a goal kick. Rahimi kept the move alive, squared the ball to Gessime Yassine, and the forward made no mistake from close range.

A lengthy VAR review followed before officials confirmed that the entire ball had not crossed the line. The goal was awarded, sealing all three points for Morocco.

Despite the victory, Morocco could not leapfrog Brazil at the top of Group C. The Atlas Lions finished second with seven points and now advance to the knockout stages as the first African nation.
