The 26/27 SportPesa League will kick off on Saturday, August 22, following the release of the key dates for the 2026/27 domestic football season by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee.
The new campaign will mark the second straight season since the return of leading online gaming firm SportPesa as the title sponsor of Kenya’s top-flight league.
Last season, SportPesa signed a landmark 10-year partnership with the Football Kenya Federation worth KSh 1.12 billion.

The 2025/26 campaign proved to be a successful first year of the agreement, with the league regaining its competitive edge.
Clubs battled for lucrative rewards, while the introduction of monthly coaches’ and players’ awards further boosted competition throughout the season.
The league champions also enjoyed a significantly improved cash prize, with winners Gor Mahia walking away with KSh 15 million after reclaiming the title for a record-extending 22nd time.
Their rivals AFC Leopards finished runners-up and took home KSh 3 million, while former champions Kenya Police FC completed the top three, earning KSh 2 million from the KSh 20 million prize pool.
With the new season’s dates now confirmed, the second campaign under SportPesa’s sponsorship is expected to be even more competitive.
Kariobangi Sharks, Bidco United, and Sofapaka were the three teams relegated and will be replaced by 3K FC, Migori Youth and Mombasa United.
The SportPesa League will kick off a week earlier than the FKF National Super League, which is scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Before then, player registration for the SportPesa League will open on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. (EAT) and close on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (EAT).
Registration for the FKF National Super League will run from Friday, June 26, 2026, to August 28, 2026, while the FKF Division One League primary registration window will open on July 1, 2026, and close on September 4, 2026.
In the women’s competitions, player registration for the FKF Women’s Premier League will open on Sunday, June 28, 2026, and close on Monday, August 31, 2026, ahead of the new season’s kick-off on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

For the FKF Women’s National Super League, the registration window will run from Wednesday, July 1, 2026, to Saturday, September 5, 2026, with the league set to begin on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
Meanwhile, registration for the FKF Women’s Division One League will open on Friday, July 3, 2026, and close on Friday, September 11, 2026.
The competition is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The federation has urged all participating clubs to complete player registration within the stipulated timelines and ensure they meet all licensing and competition requirements before the respective deadlines.
