The men’s senior team Harambee Stars will be looking to end the June international friendlies on a high note as they take on Lesotho in the second of two exhibition matches scheduled for Sunday, at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa.
The two squads met at the same venue on Thursday this week, and it was Lesotho who managed to come from behind to force a 1-1 stalemate.
Gor Mahia’s defender Frank Odhiambo opened the scoring early in the first half for his debut national team goal, while it was Lesotho’s captain Thabo Makhele’s header that leveled matters in the late minutes of the second half.

Now each side has a chance to redeem themselves, especially for Kenya, where Benni McCarthy will be expected to rotate his lineup and ensure they get the much-needed results.
These friendly matches are part of the preparation and give the technical bench another opportunity to evaluate the squad as Harambee Stars continue gearing up for upcoming continental assignments, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 qualifiers.
Kenya vs Lesotho preview

Meanwhile, they will be looking to shake off their poor run in recent matches, as Kenya has managed to win just one of their last six outings, with three losses and two draws in the mix.
Harambee Stars assistant coach Vasili Manousakis shared the main area of weakness his team has been working on before facing off with Likuena.
“We have worked on a couple of tactical issues that let us down in the last game, especially getting into that final third. As you know, we created a few chances, but we have to be a lot more clinical so that is the first issue.
It is an international game, and the mandate is that we need to win. That is certainly the expectation from the technical team.
We had a long discussion with the coaches and have looked at a couple of videos where we came up short, and how we can do better.”

Meanwhile, for the Crocodiles, the double-header friendly series serves as a vital scouting and tactical laboratory.
Head coach Leslie Notsi and the technical bench are prioritizing defensive organization and the integration of fresh talent.
Lesotho are entering a crucial transition phase as they prepare for a monumental challenge in the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group-stage qualifiers.

After battling past Seychelles with a 2-1 aggregate victory during the preliminary rounds, they have been drawn into a highly competitive Group A alongside powerhouse Morocco, Gabon, and Niger.
With group-stage fixtures kicking off this September, Lesotho faces an uphill battle to secure one of the top two qualifying spots from the group to reach the final 24-team tournament in East Africa.
Kenya vs Lesotho prediction
In the last four meetings between these two sides, Kenya has never beaten Lesotho, who have won once since 2013, with the other three encounters ended in draws, including the most recent one on Thursday
Harambee Stars will be looking to ensure they end these friendlies on a high note, and after creating chances in the previous matchup without finding the net, they might have fine-tuned things in that final third.

That makes them the favorites to claim victory on Sunday.
However, Lesotho were so sharp on counterattacks, so we expect them to bring a very tough challenge in this second round as well.
