- Former AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda has likened Gor Mahia winger Shariff Musa to Jeremy Doku of Manchester City.
- Shikanda has tipped Musa to inspire Gor Mahia to the SportPesa League title, praising the winger’s sensational form this season.
- He also warned against ruling out his former side AFC Leopards, capable of causing a dramatic late twist in the title race.
Former AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda has likened Gor Mahia’s speedster winger Shariff Musa to Manchester City’s dazzling Jeremy Doku, predicting he will steer his side to the SportPesa League crown.
Shikanda, now an FKF National Executive Member representing Nairobi, believes that Shariff, who has been on fire this season, can propel Gor Mahia to their record 22nd SportPesa League title, with the team currently on the home stretch and just two games left.
“Can Shariff Musa honor Baba with 2025/2026 KPL Title? He has been outstanding in Gor Mahia’s relentless push to win the KPL trophy and secure their “22nd” title,” Shikanda wrote on his Facebook page.

Former AFC Leopards chairman likens Gor Mahia’s Shariff Musa to Man City star Doku
In his endorsement for Shariff to help Gor reclaim the crown, he directly compared him to Man City’s Doku- who was incredibly influential in the Citizens’ recent title race, scoring back-to-back crucial goals for Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, they stumble in the third-last match against Bournemouth, which ultimately handed Arsenal their first title in 22 years.
“Shariff’s twin brother in the EPL, Jeremy Doku of Man City, nicknamed after Shariff Musa in Europe because of their identical football DNA and explosive pace, unfortunately failed to help Manchester City through Everton and Bournemouth over 180 painful minutes, handing Arsenal the title they had waited for 22 years.”,” Shikanda explained.

The 23-year-old has been sensational this season under Charles Akonnor, managing to net six goals in the SportPesa League, helping his club currently sit at the top of the table with 68 points.
On top of that, Musa was the first player in the league to be named Player of the Month during the inaugural SportPesa League award in October 2025.
Shikanda, a former player for both AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, believes Musa can now steer the club to the championship, with just one crucial victory potentially enough when they face Mara Sugar FC this weekend.
“Shariff Musa who is a pure joy to watch, faces his own 180 minutes of destiny as for play Mara Sugar and Nairobi United, can he produce where his twin brother Jeremy Doku fell short?”
Shikanda added that Musa could surpass Doku’s achievements this season by delivering the league title despite Manchester City managing to win other trophies.
“Can Shariff Musa go one step beyond his brother Jeremy Doku and gift RAILA the 2025/2026 KPL title posthumously? … Your guess is as good as mine.”

However, to balance his prediction and after openly backing Gor to win the title in his cryptic message to Musa, Shikanda also warned against ruling out his former side AFC Leopards, especially with emerging talents like Kelly Madada capable of causing a late twist in the title race.
“Kindly don’t rule out Kelly Madada’s AFC Leopards because football has a strange habit of producing miracles, heartbreaks and chaos exactly when people think the script has already been written. It’s not over till it’s over,” he reiterated.

With two matches remaining, Gor Mahia could seal the championship this Sunday with victory over Mara Sugar in Homa Bay. However, a defeat could push the title race to the final day, especially if AFC Leopards overcome APS Bomet FC on the same day.
If the outcome favours Ingwe on Sunday, the league will go to the final day, where Ingwe will face already-relegated Bidco United, while Gor will take on Nairobi United.
