SportPesa League Player of the Month

Gor Mahia winger Shariff Musa has been voted the SportPesa League Player of the Month for October 2025, making him the first recipient of the awards being handed by leading online gaming firm SportPesa.

Musa, overcame opposition from AFC Leopards defender Vincent Mahiga and teammates Enock Morrison and Michael Kibwage to walk away with the gong.

He received a customized SportPesa League Player of the Month trophy and 50,000 shillings for emerging top.

Musa, was in sensational form for Gor Mahia last month. The winger’s goal and assist helped the record Kenyan champions to stay perfect as they grabbed 3/3 wins in October after facing KCB, Posta Rangers and Mathare United.

The winger, whose form saw him earn a recall to the Harambee Stars squad for the November 2025 friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal since his maiden call-up back in 2023, scored against Mathare United and provided an assist in the game against Posta Rangers.

He is the first player to win the award since SportPesa took over sponsorship of the topflight league, now referred to as the SportPesa League, from the 25/26 campaign.

It also completes a Gor Mahia awards double, with head coach Charles Akonnor claiming the SportPesa League Coach of the Month award.

The Ghanaian tactician, who previously captained German topflight side Wolfsburg and coached the Ghana national team, masterminded the 3/3 wins.

The introduction of the SportPesa League monthly awards come in the backdrop of a partnership with local data provider Tisini to avail insights meant improve the SportPesa League competitiveness.

Apart from the performance data for the shortlist, the award also allows the fans to vote for their favorite nominee, accounting for 20% of the final result.
