The curtains finally come to a close on the 2025/26 Serie A season this weekend, with Fiorentina taking on Atalanta in the first game of the final matchday on Friday evening.
Inter were crowned champions with three games to spare and they maintain a 13-point lead going into round 38 in the Italian top flight.
Napoli are in second place with 73 points, three ahead of both AC Milan and Roma who both need to avoid defeat to confirm their spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Como and Juventus follow closely with 68 points, knowing that a positive result for either could be enough to secure a top four finish and spot in Europe next season.

At the opposite end of the table, Pisa and Verona have already been relegated to the Serie B for next season. One more spot remains as 17th place Lecce and Cremonese in 18th have one more shot to avoid the axe.
Lecce have 35 points, one more than Cremonese, with both teams playing their final matches of the season at home. This should work in their favor as they battle to stay in the Serie A next season.
Here we have a look at some of the top games with a direct impact in round 38 and offer our predicted outcome.

Fiorentina vs Atalanta – Friday, 9:45PM – Stadio Artemio Franchi
Fiorentina have had a forgettable season but their standards as they sit in 15th place with 41 points. Even victory here will not be enough to see them earn a top 10 finish.
They take on a seventh place Atalanta who have 58 points after 37 games. The visitors seem to have done enough to earn them a spot in the UEFA Conference League next season.
Both sides have only managed one win in their last five matches – a run of form that does not give this fixture any promise of an electric encounter. Atalanta have edged the recent head-to-head history, winning three of the last five matches against Fiorentina – including a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture.

Bologna vs Inter – Saturday, 7PM – Stadio Renato Dall’Ara
Bologna failed to secure a spot in Europe next season despite being unbeaten in their last three Serie A games. They fell short and trail Atalanta by just three points, but a huge goal difference margin leaves them as the inferior side.
They are hoping to at least cap off the season in style by defeating champions Inter. This is a possible reality with Bologna being the superior team in recent matches – they have beat Inter three times in the last five matches played against them.

Inter bring an 11-match unbeaten run into the game and are out to finish their title-winning season on a high as well.

Only two of the last 10 games between these two sides has produced less than 2.5 goals. We can expect goals from both sides here as well.

Napoli vs Udinese – Sunday, 7PM – Diego Armando Maradona Stadium
The 2024/25 Serie A winners Napoli failed at their attempt to defend the title but can cement a second place finish with victory here. They are in second with 73 points and will need to avoid defeat to maintain that spot at the end of the weekend.
The hosts snapped a two-game winless run to beat Pisa 3-0 last time out, while Udinese lost 1-0 to relegation-threatened Cremonese.
Despite the loss, Udinese are in 10th with 50 points and could finish the season either a place higher or lower on the table. They are also looking to complete the league double over Napoli following a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture last December.
Udinese are unbeaten in their last five away games – winning three times and scoring 12 goals in the process. We can expect an entertaining battle between these two sides on Sunday.

AC Milan vs Cagliari – Sunday, 9:45PM – San Siro
Milan will need to win by at least two goals and hope Napoli lose if they are to snatch second place on the table. They are currently in third with 70 points.
The Rossoneri snapped a two-game losing run to beat Genoa 2-1 away from home. Their form has been poor at the tail end of the season and they are hoping they can sign off with another victory.
Cagliari on the other hand barely survived and are in 16th with 40 points, six above the dreaded drop zone. Sebastiano Esposito and Yerry Mina were on target as they beat Torino 2-1 last weekend.
Milan have not lost to Cagliari since a 2-1 defeat in May 2017, and are favorites to win here.

Cremonese vs Como – Sunday, 9:45PM – Stadio Giovanni Zini
This game brings with it plenty to fight for both sides at opposite ends of the Serie A table. Cremonese must win for a chance to avoid relegation, while victory for Como will see them play Champions League football for the first time in their history.
Cremonese are coming off back-to-back wins for the first time this season, beating Pisa and Udinese. A third successive win might just be enough to keep them in the Serie A, depending on Lecce’s result later in the day.

Fifth place Como have had a remarkable season under Cesc Fabregas and a win could see them make more history. They are unbeaten in their last four games and are coming off similar 1-0 wins against Verona and Parma.
The reverse fixture resulted in a 1-1 draw, though Cremonese have beaten Como in all four matches prior to this result.

Lecce vs Genoa – Sunday, 9:45PM – Stadio Via del Mare
Anything other than a win here could see Lecce relegated to the Serie B next season. They are in 17th place with 35 points – just one above the dreaded relegation zone.
They take on a Genoa side who are desperate for a win to end their season. They are currently on a four-game winless run that leaves them in 14th with 41 points.
There is definitely more on the line for the hosts, who will be filled with confidence after a dramatic 3-2 away win at Sassuolo last weekend. This was their second win in their last five matches as they continue to battle to stay in the Serie A next season.
Genoa have beaten Lecce twice in the last five head-to-head matches and shared the spoils in another two – including a barren draw in the reverse fixture last August.
