Nairobi United midfielder Kevin Wangaya has been named SportPesa League Player of the Month for April 2026.

Wangaya has delivered a sensational run of form since joining the NaiBois mid-season.

In April, the 20-year-old bagged three goals against Mara Sugar, Murang’a SEAL, and Mathare United.

On top of that, the Kenya international also racked up four assists, putting together some dominant displays across the five matches he featured in contributing directly to seven points during the team’s push.

Across those five fixtures, Nairobi United did nOt taste a single defeat. Wangaya’s efforts secured a point in a 1-1 draw with Mara Sugar, he scored in the thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Murang’a SEAL (adding an assist there too), and also played a key role in the 2-1 victory against Mathare United.

That run added up to three wins and two draws in April.

Wangaya now joins a select few who have received the SportPesa League Player of the Month accolade that was introduced just six months ago in October.

He will walk away with 50,000 Kenyan Shillings along with a custom trophy courtesy of leading gaming firm SportPesa.

The rising Kenya star joined Nairobi United back in February and has proven a hugely reliable and influential figure in Godfrey Oduor’s squad during their debut season in the SportPesa League, as well as their FKF Cup journey where they were eventually bundled out in the quarterfinals by KCB FC.

In April, APS Bomet defender Edward Masembe finished as runner-up, helping his side keep three clean sheets in the matches he started.

He also scored once and was named Man of the Match during that stretch, playing a huge part in the club picking up valuable points as they battle for survival in the top flight under coach Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo.

Kenya Police FC custodian Daniel Ogembo was also in the mix for the award, having played a crucial role for the defending league champions with four clean sheets and several sharp saves.

Wangaya also edged out his own teammate Michael Karamow, who was nominated for the April award after managing to net five goals in five matches.
